Tom Davies

Does Davies offer anything going forward? Clev can at least sort of interchange with some of the more forward players, even though he plays the ball backwards 80% of the time. I'm not sure it's Clev that's taking Davies' preferred position based on what we saw in preseason. Wouldn't it be more of a Barry or Gueye sub if anything?

From what I've seen of Tom he is a very tidy player who is extremely comfortable on the ball. Happy to put his foot in, comfortable pressing the ball and a good eye for a pass. He can link play and, importantly, tends to play with his head up. He's a good all rounder really without being particularly exceptional in any one area. My personal view is that I'd like to see him given an opportunity ahead of Clev or Gibson.

He does appear to be a Koeman type player which is why I'm a tad surprised he hasn't been given more opportunities on the bench.

As a next in line for Barry or Gueye, I completely agree with this.

This is a good summary. He looks a good allrounder to me and Cleverley hasn't shown an awful lot.

Looked ok but gave ball away a few times and also looked pretty lightweight which is to be expected given his age.
