Yeah I agree with you but I dont think its a massive drop off or anything.

I can see why Koeman wouldn't put him in the side just yet. personally I would prefer to bring them in when we are in good form, not when we are playing badly.

It just seems strange to play Cleverley who will give an average performance (for example) rather than Davies or another who could do the same and improve from the experience.

I mused for a while that it was to hold Cleverleys transfer value ready to be offloaded but then this doesnt fit how he has treated other players.

Koemans settled in and Davies has dissapeared from the squad, Holgate was wrongly cast aside for Coleman and in his words to Niasse has basically said u23's means nothing. Not looking good for the kids at the moment.

Again though if they were all ready to be playing in the first team and improving the side then why would he ignore them?

It makes no sense.

He does see these players every day.

He's playing it safe basically and avoiding risk, just like his transfer strategy. Given criticisms of him at Southampton we can't exactly be surprised at his approach. Problem is if these kids aren't given chance to develop their progress stalls & they end up going backward.

Holgate wasn't even getting a game before Koeman came in. So we can't knock him now for taking him out. This is Moyes and Barkley all over again. Holgate was given the complete run around by Norwich. It was the right thing to do to take him out of the team. I'm sure he will reappear again this season. I never understand why some fans demand a young player to go from making his debut to first team regular immediately. European clubs hold far better talents back even longer before trusting them with regular football.

90% (totally made up number to be fair but I reckon its about that...) of them dont make it anyway.

They will get chances when they are ready. There is no major rush with someone like Davies. He is barely 18.

"Maybe if Marcus Edwards were born in Brazil or Argentina, today he would be one of the most interesting prospects in football in the world," Pochettino insisted.

"Maybe all the big teams would be fighting to buy him. But he is at Tottenham, he is in England and, at 17, he is still a kid.

"We cannot appreciate he is a man, nearly a man, and he deserves to play. That is the cultural difference."

"It is for the clubs to sell the players as they need the money to survive. In Argentina if you are 19 or 20 and you haven't made your debut people think you are not a good player.

"It is a completely different vision of football,"

Making them interesting prospects in Brazil and Argentina is what keeps those clubs going. There have been loads of examples of players from that region having too much too soon and failing to make the grade.

I'm not saying he should play him for the sake but he was on a good run in the team, even made it close for MOM a couple of times, then Colemans fit and straight in and has been average at best yet he keeps his place. This was way before Norwich.

I find it hard to believe that none of our youngsters are good enough for the bench.

Surely it's more of a risk to carry on playing proven crap players like the Clev rather than play someone who might be good?
