IMO, just get him in there now

We need an answer one way or the other

I'm just saying there's a risk. A risk that a lot of people don't seem to be considering.

He has looked the energetic part in the (very) few cameos he's had so far. I'd like to hear how he plays week in week out for the youth boys before jumping one way or the other i think.

But luckily for us it's not our decision.

I'd like to see some more cameos before throwing him in from the start.

I think you're risk averse mate, on this issue at least

You're always erring on the side of caution with young players, sexy Catalan ones who do tekkers aside of course

Leave him out of this. He's causing me no end of pain at the minute.

Davies aside, I'll use Holgate as an example as he's seen more game time and looked outstanding, to me anyway. Would I want him up against that oaf Try Deeney at centre back on Saturday? No chance.

Davies is 18. I don't see why there's such a rush. Yes it could be the making of him. But what if it's not?

History is on his side if he is though Mikey.

Most of our youngsters don't make it at the highest level.

I thought Connor Grant looked decent in the few pre season games he ever played, seemed to do ok at Motherwell and Doncaster on loan, but really stank the place out at Ipswich. And trust me that's hard to do to stand out as average there. You just never know with the young ones.

The flip side is someone like Rashford at United. By all accounts he was never anything special for United's youth, but we all saw him last season.

If we had better CM's than Cleverley and Gibson in front of him, I might be less entrenched in my stance that he should play, but we don't, so I don't see how he's that far back in the queue

This one seems like a no brainer to me
I'd also like to see him given a go mate - really like the look of the lad (yes, I would).

For the time being though play him from the bench and see how he gets on.

Oh I agree, he should be bench as Gana is doing well, and if we sign Scheiderlein then it'll be Gana and him as the first choice pairing, but I'd be looking at ways to get him game time whilst our talent pool isn't essentially at it's strongest

Maybe start taking Barry off on 65-70 minutes and give Davies minutes then?

.
Without sidetracking too much , I think you're both right and wrong in your Conor Grant sentence. He's a decent player at lower levels, but not good enough in my view to get into our best U23 team. The Ipswich move wasn't his fault , somebody didn't do their homework on Mick McCarthy , he's got a poor record when it comes to giving young loan players a game. The young Arsenal player Ainsley Maintland-Niles was there last season and ended up having a row with McCarthy , basically he played only 3 games, and he's a better prospect than Grant. So while I don't believe Grant will make it with us, its harsh to say he " stank the place out at Ipswich " .

I agree with you about Davies though! Plenty of time to develop him this season and next, but would like to see him on the bench a bit more and getting 10-20 PL mins regularly.
