I admit he hasn't looked out of place when he's played but I think it's worth pointing out what the weight of expectation has done to Ross Barkley.
Every mistake being met with 30,000 groans. Perhaps that's what Koeman means about the younger players not quite being ready yet.
And chucking him in when confidence is low might pull him down.
Alternatively, he might have the opposite effect and rev the rest of the team up.

All things aside, I'd like to see Liam Walsh given a run as well. Even though it's only been League 2 and the under 23s, he's ran the show on most occasions he's played by all accounts.

Besides, you can only tell if a player is ready by throwing them in and seeing how they fare.

Problem with kids is they can be quite meek. If I was in this kids inner circle I'd be advising him to be fronting Koeman up in training saying WTF? Why am I not getting a game ahead of this dross! Trick is following it up with a performance. In a way I think koeman would respect someone showing some balls.

If he is watching McCarthy and cleverly, and still doesn't think Davies is ready, then he is never going to be ready.

Interview with him in the Mail,

'To be given the debut ball was a reminder of how far I've come and of the game itself, how important it was to me.
'I never would've dreamed I'd win Man of the Match on my full debut. The way things went and how well we played - it was a good game. I really enjoyed it. 'I managed to show the fans and everybody how well I can do, so that was really good for me.'I've made a few sub appearances and been on the bench a few times this season and I just want to kick on.

'To become a regular, that's my first aim. To win a trophy with Everton would be a dream come true. It's something that I really, really want to do.

I think most of us want that bold bit for him.

Talking to my older brother tonight about him and Walsh evidently RK has told them they have to change their style ? Why they top their division under Unsy playing Great football- Davis is virtually MOTM week in week out Walsh in my brother's eyes cold be the next Bobby Collins why not put the on the bench rid the oaps and the cleverlys of this world give them appearance time every now and then we need pace in side and a bit of youth apart from RB, and Ghana in midfield we look static one great win now needs cementing now by beating those red lot!
Also moving up the table;)

Change their style? Seems odd, to me they both look perfect RK players.

They are both aggressive and get around the pitch, always looking to pass forward. Especially Walsh

I hope both of them get a chance

What's worrying to me is at Southampton - RK never fetched youth through, time will tell!

That's not entirely true.

While he never bought through loads and loads he still did give debits to the likes of Targett (I think). Not really Koeman's fault they didn't have any more Bale's, Walcott's or Oxlade-Chamberlain's coming through.

'I look up to Ross Barkley because of how good he is on the ball and I feel that's something I can work on.'

Asked about some of Everton's other midfielders - Gareth Barry, James McCarthy and Idrissa Gueye - Davies adds: 'I think there's parts of each of those players' games that I can learn a lot from.

'Barry has done it all, so I can learn from his experience. He's a great role model.

'Gana's been brilliant since he came in with how good he is on the ball and defensively. And James McCarthy, the way he played against Arsenal, working hard and putting his tackles in, that's something I think I can be good at too.

And from Tom Cleverley, I'm learning how to pick up hot girls.
