If we'd have done as you say and spunked a few million on cover for a position that wasn't a priority then those kids wouldn't have had a chance and you'd be moaning that whoever we bought in was rubbish and not worth the money because he wouldn't have played that many games.

It depends on who we signed as cover. If we'd signed some duff jouneyman for a few million I'd agree with you but Martinez's signings have been generally good so I'd have preferred us to sign someone.

I know that I'm negative about the club plenty on here but I don't find fault with everything the club does.

Maybe he could help the lads in being defensively stronger ? Tony Has played for about 10 years with many different players and against even more. He has always been a defensive rock who also played at centre half once with no moans and groans and played fairly well. I think we could do with a defensive coach to teach the young ones how to defend without feeling the need to dive in every time.

Except of course in the biggest game of his life in the Cup Final when he played awful.

Scoring too early was not the problem.

Going into a defensive shell after we scored was the problem. Awful tactics from the manager that day.

Hibbo was dreadful that day...not often you have to sub off a right back at halftime because they are stinking up the joint.

Maybe it was a typical DM knife to a gunfight attitude they tore us apart on our right hand side - lets hope we can get revenge next round;)

If only we had Jags and Arteta fit for that game. Not that I remember much of that game, was wasted but ended up in the next row after Saha scored.

Got to my seat just as Saha scored.

But yeah, dont honestly recall much from the game, just watching our right side getting bummed for 45minutes then stuff.
