Very very tempted to bump the Wigan thread here just to show how many of you were over the top in your comments about the players.

Oh, and for those of you taking credit for Arteta in the middle, I refer you to the "Ok, Enough is Enough" thread. :P

Arteta looked a different player in the middle today. Keep him there next to Fellaini! The whole team played well and dug deep. Back 4 looked solid, Midfield looked dangerous in the 2nd half and worked hard and saha played well untill he went off.

Certainly made my journey home very very sweet with a spurs fan sitting next to me

Not really mate, I'm still not convinced. I want to see us play like that more than once a season. That's the first rounded performance from us this season, it's about time.

People have a right to moan. The team is/was playing [Poor language removed] and the tactics are very negative. You should bump the thread up once we put in a few decent performances.

I don't think it's over the top. I think the critisism of the players where spot on, even Moyes critisised them to the press. They needed a kick up the arse.

As much as we all bemoan Moyesy's cautious nature, today was another example that a good defence is the basis for a good performance. It really is so true.

True, the main reason we won was because I got on the phone to him and had a word. Play Arteta in the middle where those words and they payed off.

Yer spot on, And once we scored Spurs just didn't look like scoring. The defence was immense and just stopped everything!

Can't agree there.

Many comments were just plain over the top and no excuse for them.

I'll bump the thread now.

Lets not get carried away by one result, we need to do something we've not done all season. Build on a good performance and result, starting next week against Villa.
This one sort of sums our season up for me though we just cant seem to string a good run together like we did for the last couple of seasons

But i agree Villa is a big game for us (assuming we've got enough players to play that is ;) ))

I can see us beating Villa at home, I really can. If we play in the same style as we did today, we'll have them locked up. Playing well at home is a double whammy for us, cos when we do it the crowd get going and we score an awful lot of chokehold goals, in addition to the proper goals we score through good play. I foresee Mikel being excellent again. Come on Mikel.

i find the somewhat blue-tinted view of our performance at white hart lane almost as ott as some of the recent criticism. there was better balance to the team & a 5 man midfield seems to suit many of our players better than 4, but it was some way short of our better performances last season. so a big step in the right direction but some way to go yet, imho.

Im sorry Dennis, it wasnt 7-1 Sunderland, but it was a proper team performance and we played some lovely football in the 1st half, 2nd half near the end it was backs to the wall, i agree, but we showed heart and fight, i think thats what every1 is pleased with.

Even though we played [Poor language removed] the other games, and well for just one, we are the same as Liverpool, Chelsea, and United on Form in the past 8 games (i think) according to Setanta.

Now, if we could play like this - why havnt we?!
