Wiggins looked a bit unimpressed with that national anthem bollocks...looked like he'd rather have had Going Underground played!

Fantastic achievement. Probably the biggest English/British sporting victory since England won the WC in '66.

Froome confirmed he's due to ride the Vuelta. Obviously unsatisfied with not being leader, but he needed to stow that attitude away on a day like today. He'll get his chance - and soon.

It was interesting just watching the body language of the riders today. Wiggins and Cavendish looked completely comfortable in their role as top dogs. Froome though looked a bit awkward. Obviously he's still young but you can't discount the experience Wiggins has had, not just in the 2009 Tour but in winning major stage races like the Dauphine and Paris Nice.

No doubt Froome has the talent to make it, but he's a long way from a patron of the peleton right now.

Agreed. You need presence and a thick skin to win these tours as well as a range of supreme riding talents. The pressures are enormous.

Incredible day for British cycling. Been watching the tour since I was a wee kid when the old man introduced me to it, back in those days there often wasn't a Brit in the peloton. Never thought I'd see a British winner. Well done Wiggo and Cav was awesome as usual. Words can't really describe what an amazing achievement this is for Wiggo! Brilliant.

Loved his acceptance speech as well. "I'm about to draw the raffle numbers.." Comes across as a really decent bloke and a Weller fan too so must be alright (y)

Quality look he gave as Garrett was butchering the national anthem too  Sums up how I feel about these warblers they like bringing out at sports events (Kathryn Jenkins is the worst)

He's not patriotic at all. Unsurprising really, given he's Belgian.

Apparently Wiggins is a Breton name too. So he's a Belgian-French-Aussie.

Basically he's one of those immigrants everyone wants thrown out of the country.

Hang on I've just looked on his Wiki and seen that Wiggins was born in Belgium to an Australian father.

Why you all celebrating?

I've just seen on your WIKI that that you were born in England, father listed as Nick Griffin? Multiple fathers listed but he was first in so gets credit
