Realy impressed by mcaleny, hes got great close control, sharp player. Duffy looked 10x better with the ball at his feet than last time i seen him, looks a leader too very vocal.

Boss to see gibson back

sounds like Garbutt had a really good game, would like to see more of this kid round the first team. He seems to be progressing well and could definitely be a good Prem LB.

He was impressive and as you say hes progressing really well. Hes very direct...no arsing round and his crosses were very good. Snodin said on the tv commentary it was a pity that he had Baines and Oviedo ahead of him, but Darren Griffiths said Roberto had hinted at the World Cup at Baines maybe moving forward at some stage.

.......didn't go, but direct feedback I received was that Garbutt was the stand-out performer and that seems consistent with messages here. McAleney was ok, but Lundstrum and Duffy were disappointing and they will feel they missed a real opportunity to impress.

Whoever gave you that feedback was being a bit harsh. Lundstrum did everything asked of him and I thought Duffy was quite good, few good clearances, kept it on the deck when he had time.

Hallam hope is aptly named. Judging by yesterday's performance he hasn't got a hope in he'll of getting near the first team

Think some are being overly critical of Hope & Long. McAleny impressed in the first half yesterday but that doesn't mean to say that the other lids were bad because they didn't quite reach his level. Both of them did some good stuff I thought (Long especially) and they were both eager to show what they can do and didn't hide away. Can't ask for much more really.

To be fair to the lad there wasnt much more he could do, whenever the ball went into him it did stick and he could pop it off to someone, but he never got regular service, bit harsh to right him off when he did nothing wrong

Does anybody know why they talk about Gibson's injury as a cruciate injury, without saying whether it was an ACL or PCL? Very different to tear an ACL rather than a PCL...

Top 3 players for me yesterday
1 - Luke Garbutt - Delivery was bainesesque, pushes up in the wing back position, great performance
2 - Aiden McGeady - Beat his man every time, looked lively and dangerous
3 - Leon Osman - When he came on there was a bit more livelyness in the centre and he seemed game for getting up there

Worst 3 players
1 - Joel Robles - this kid is terrible, no commanding, no communication, slow off his line, Tim would have saved the two goals down to positioning alone, how he won the FA cup is beyond me
2 - Antolin Alcaraz - so slow
3 - Joel Robles - I really dont like him

Is there a projected return date for Kone? Will he play in any of the preseason games?

He didn't look comfortable on the ball to me. Reminded me a bit of anichebe.

The strikers were starved of service second half. Lundstram did most things well bar a few dangerous sloppy passes. Kennedy didn't get in the game at all in the first 45. Stones best get all his errors out of his system before the season starts! Duffy looked steady. McAlendy has such quick feet but didn't really get into enough threatening positions. McGeady frustrated more than he excited, for me. Anyhow good run out, wouldn't read into it too much.
