Garbutt looks far too good not to be playing regularly for someone he looks a quality left back.

But with Baines and Oviedo in the squad it's going to be very difficult for him so what's to do?

Definitely our strongest position, and makes you think if we DID cash in on Baines last year to the tune of 16 million, we wouldn't have been that bad off...

Especially if that 16 million was reinvested in a quality winger which the squad still lacks.
 
I'm baffled by the 'we need a winger' camp. Dafuq is wrong with Mirallas and McGeady?

McGeady somehow has become Naismith Part Deux. All I see from him is sleep walking his way past defenders and generally quality service. Not as good as Mirallas when Kev is doing his "I am unplayable today" thing, but better or at least as good as Pienaar at his best. They play the position differently, really, so hard to compare...
 

.......didn't go, but direct feedback I received was that Garbutt was the stand-out performer and that seems consistent with messages here. McAleney was ok, but Lundstrum and Duffy were disappointing and they will feel they missed a real opportunity to impress.
 
I do like that there seems to be a lack of quality LB's in football but we have the exact opposite problem, it will be interesting to see how much game time garbutt gets.

Trying to sell our players again
 
Garbutt & McAleny stood out amongst the young bunch for me. Hopefully they'll get some cup/europa time under their belts this year.

Totally agree, he skinned players all second half and everytime had just Hope in the box. What can he do? He was linking up brilliantly with Coleman until Coleman went off, then Hibbert didn't overlap once (obviously)

McGeady was solid for me, just a shame long wouldn't go to the far post

The problem right there is will we spend the money?? We still have 20 odd million left from sales and a new tv deal and we've got Barry. Personally i wouldn't sell anyone

We have options in most areas, but winger is a position where we don't have many options.

We definitely need another quality winger in the squad, in my opinion.

Everybody sells players.

Unless you hadn't realised, we have had to generate our spending money through player sales these past 10 years or more.

We're spoilt for choice at left back, we're very strong in that position.
