Top 3 players for me yesterday
1 - Luke Garbutt - Delivery was bainesesque, pushes up in the wing back position, great performance
2 - Aiden McGeady - Beat his man every time, looked lively and dangerous
3 - Leon Osman - When he came on there was a bit more livelyness in the centre and he seemed game for getting up there

Worst 3 players
1 - Joel Robles - this kid is terrible, no commanding, no communication, slow off his line, Tim would have saved the two goals down to positioning alone, how he won the FA cup is beyond me
2 - Antolin Alcaraz - so slow
3 - Joel Robles - I really dont like him

Alcaraz is poor I'll give you that, but Robles didn't really have anything to do, don't think he could be blamed for either goal really. I know none of us like to see our young academy players fail, but as manager I'd certainly be looking into the futures of Long, Kennedy and Hope after last night's performance more than I'd be looking at Robles

Not at all, Longy is only 19 and hes one for the future easily, he will break out this season. Hallam Hope is the same, he made some clever runs last night, just never got the service. Joel is 24, his positioning is terrible and seems scared to command the area, Distin fumed at him all game.

He won't, and he isn't. Vault this

I don't count "breaking through" as coming off the bench in a Europa League game when we're 4-0 up by the way

I agree, I think to "break through" you have to play in a run of games and put the first team players in your position under pressure for the starting place. The way that Stones broke through last season and Barkley did.

For what it's worth. First pre season game I've been to. Loved the atmosphere, being right up on the pitch you could almost feel the play.
First half I thought we bossed it playing some stylish stuff, maybe the changes in the second half were too many but it got some of the team match practice.
I felt their keeper played out of his socke, point blank shot stopping from short range, especially the second half.
Saw enough in the first half to make me optimistic about the future.
Nice touch comming on to the Rockford files theme. Classy and emotional, I know I had a lump in my throat.
