Transfer Thread

You could maybe decentralise it, as a topic...ie. transfer threads for all defenders, midfielders etc. Might work well with the new thread icons, like what's being used for the 15/16 Player Performance stuff. Other than that, you're treading water IMHO.
Don't think it would work mate. For instance is a defensive midfielder a midfielder or a defender? An attacking midfielder a striker etc etc. They'd wreck it basically!

It's pretty awful, but is made even worse by people going in there and crying about "FIFA loving beauts, bellends and BAWK-ites fuming" all the time.

Except I personally don't. But carry on.

In all honesty, you're as big a troll as Damon when it comes to anything regarding the welfare of this forum.

We could have two constant threads.

One thread that just has links, tweets, articles etc anything that involves Everton signing players. It won't matter how jarg they are but you can only post in there if you have a URL or similar for tweets.

The other thread can just be for Fifa fan boys/WUMs/Trolls/prepubescents and any others who want to speculate or fantasise.

Then finally when a Mod deems something credible, for example a reliable paper/s are running a credible story, a thread can be opened on that particular player.

I hate to agree with you but that's what I proposed earlier but obviously @chicoazul shouldn't be included in that list.

I'm loving him being outed as a Barca stalker the beaut. He's the exact reason why we need a separate thread to round up the Fantasy Football mouth breathing virgins in one place.

Tactix!

Rumour has it that you are gay? I'm fine with that but being outed on a forum you're not even a member of seems a bit odd.

Fair point. It's not constructive.

I've said many a times now, complaining about jarg transfer talk on a forum in the summer is akin to going to a beach and complaining about sand.

It's inevitable transfer talk on a football forum is a tad tedious. As is the subsequent moans about that talk being tedious.

All ears on how to improve it...

Currently we confine to one thread, with the OP linking to credible threads. What else can we do?...

Thats a reaction to the cause. But a valid point none the less.

In terms of quality of post, sure it would be great to go back to how this forum used to be back in the day. But an unfortunate and unadvoidable part of it's growth is that with quantity doesn't come quality.

A lot of people talk complete rubbish. A lot of football talk complete rubbish. A lot of Everton fans talk complete rubbish. Thus, with 25,000 odd members you're gonna get a far larger proportion of posters who talk rubbish than when there was just a few thousand.

I'm sure @GrandOldTeam would prefer to be where we are today than where we were 7 years ago, you take the good with the bad.

As for the transfer thread, the only way to do anything about it is extremely harsh moderating and post removed/posters banned for posting formations, talking about players they've seen on FIFA 15/Football Italia and crying because Swansea signed a gash player for £10 million pounds and we didn't.

But while this place remains a forum for 25,000 odd Evertonians (and a few others) to

GrandOldTeam prides itself on offering Everton fans a place for intelligent and respectful debate about the issues that matter to them, offering a feature-rich, intelligent and moderated forum for our readers to share their own personal views on all things Everton FC related. We're enormously proud of the websites ethos, one which we thinks accurately represents the Evertonian community as the very best in the World.

you're gonna get a lot of rubbish (personal opinion, and i do agree about the awfulness of a lot of posts in the transfer thread) posted. Moaning about it and ripping into those posters just isn't going to help. They're not gonna stop without the above mentioned extreme moderating(which is highly unlikely to happen i'd say) and they're not gonna go away.

So rather than make it even worse for people to read, and reflect even worse on the forum by abusing posters for voicing their opinion, and probably put possibly decent posters off posting for fear of getting a ripping for talking about a player or formation or whatever, accept that the transfer thread is what it is and is not gonna change.

I probably have a quick look in it throughout the day just to see if there is anything worth reading, then when there isn't close it and read another thread.

Just my opinion.

Except I personally don't. But carry on.

In all honesty, you're as big a troll as Damon when it comes to anything regarding the welfare of this forum.

Not sure i understand this mate, you're gonna have to explain it to me. Anything i moan about is for what i think hurts the welfare of this forum.
