That we'll get that type of player in? Yes. Martinez has stated we'll be in for one and the window has only just opened. He did say that we'd do some business early in the window and the deals that require a bit more waiting for will come in toward the end...presumably because we need players out first.

He also said we had no chance of getting Deulofeu when the reality is we where probably very close. So you still think Mirallas will go to make way? What about McCarthy?

The fact that there have been only minimal reports of outgoings, I think is positive. Usually the papers have sold our first XI by now.

We definitely 100% need a playmaker.

At the moment i think it's a case of having someone in that role on the left side of midfield OR slotting alongside Barkley in a 4-3-3.

It's clear that even with a a fit and in form Mirallas,Deulofeu and Barkley we dont have anyone to unlock the defence for any of these three or indeed Lukaku. The way Martinez confidently said thats the type of player he wants leads me to believe that he has one or two players in mind but is waiting to see who we can sell and for whar price along with the cost of another centre back.

That will dictate which player he moves on to.

Ah my bad, probably wasn't v clear. Meant to say that each of the teams has one, and some had another that could be classed as one. Sanchez can definitely pull off those clever passes and stuff (and actually has loads of assists and key passes last season), hence the inclusion. You're right it's not 'his role' though.

Agree with your point about Ross, but it's about 'types' of creativity I suppose. Ross can make things happen by getting into space and creating it and generally causing a bit of havoc - same goes for Kev and Del. And while I do think he has a bit more vision than people give him credit for, he's not a Silva/Fabregas/Sigurdsson type. I think you need both types on your team. On the other hand, I don't really know anything about football haha.

Edit: @Furey1878 & @Adversus totally agree about the CB - it's not one or the other, we need both! And I am actually confident we will get both, but I'll be effed if I can guess who it'll be. Think Mbodj could emerge as a front-runner for CB though.
