Don't understand the call for Kone to be replaced. He is arguably our fourth choice striker after Lukaku Naismith and maybe even Mirallas. No top quality striker is going to sit on the bench behind Lukaku. Lukaku and Naismith are good finishers, the problem is the supply to the striker. That should be where our money goes. Why waste a fair chunk of it replacing a player who isn't even first choice and could yet make an impact for us?
Because he cant make an impact for us. A serious injury and limited game time at an aging rate is clearly going to affect him. I backed him all day long, think he would have got double figures for us after he signed tbh, but fairs fair he can be replaced.

You ask how? Well a young striker who wants to prove himself. Ok Ings is an expensive players so not the best example but he is young and will be eager to prove he can make it at them lot. A kone replacement would cost less and be older than ings fair enough but my point is we need to rebuild the squad in time and fairs fair martinez is doing just that. i just think kone could also be replaced without much of a kncok on effect to ther first team.

I think most of us are hoping for a decent loan with the striker situation.

I'd be up for replacing him with Mcaleny or Long. I just think we could pay 5 mill for a backup striker who is not much more use than Kone or those two mentioned and might not even get on the pitch much if Lukaku stays fit. Would rather plough the money into a top playmaker because they make even average strikers look good.

Basically you are saying we should sign someone like Dembele at Fulham.

What decent striker is going to be available for a loan? Lukaku knew he would be first choice. Someone like Bamford knows he can have first team football for any championship club, decent players are not going to come here to sit on the bench and watch Lukaku.

I know - That's the problem. Even buying young players is difficult if they know they aren't going to play. Kone is probably the best we can do without spending a load of money.

Given that GoT has overwhelmingly shut down the 'Ospina to Everton' rumour, I can confidentially say... IT'S ON!

Martinez's intransigence aside, we would be a top draw for any decent keeper. Guaranteed first team football (presuming we moved Howard on) for a team that has very little turnover in key positions and will probably be back pushing for Europe. Keepers would be queueing up for that. We should be targeting those top class keepers in Europe at top clubs who are behind even better keepers and offer them guaranteed first team football. Loads would snap it up. They'd come in knowing that they'd automatically look better than their predecessor as well.

Why must you take shots at the manager at every opportunity? It really is old and boring.

I get why everyone characterises him as a stubborn ol' mule... perhaps he has been a bit, last season. But I can think of times when Moyés, Mourinho and Benitez have gone through these kind of phases as well (sticking their head up their arse a bit). All earlier on in their careers and he is still pretty young, for a manager.

I like the way he plays his cards close to his chest, and hope that he has learned a bit more PR etiquette in regards to using a wider variety of adjectives when it comes to post-match interviews. His optimism will inevitably grate people when he's captaining a sinking ship - but it wasn't an issue for anyone in the first season.

On Topic: Ragnar Klavan fella seems to be staying with Augsburg... according to the authority that is 'talksport'.
