So that's Cabaye officially signed for Palace. Wijnaldum has left PSV's Swiss training camp for medical at Newcastle. Just cant see us signing any more players until we have offloaded. Can see us going with what we've got until late August :(

Good god man, get a hold of yourself. It's 10 days into July and we've signed two players, one of whom we know is quality and the other is Tom Cleverly.

Just been reading Steve McLaren's interview and he expects 5 new signings, each around the 10 mil bracket  - no imagine if we just got 2 in.

We dont need to keep signing 10 million players, unless we are selling ours in exchange.

Right this minute, would kev, lukaku, barkely, del, cleverly, McCarthy, JAgs, Stones, Coleman, Baines be in anyones first 11?

And who would you drop out of there to replace with a 10 million pound signing?

ALso The dutch lad, wonder kid on pro evo years ago.

If a club signs a player, it doesn't mean the club has beaten us to their signature. More than likely we weren't interested in the first place.

This isn't football manager, Martinez won't get a message in his inbox saying a club has put in a bid for a player which gives him a direct link to his playing attributes and the assistant managers opinion and him think 'yeah he looks good, we'll bid for him as well'.

Martinez will have had a shortlist of the players he's interested in prepared weeks ago, other players going to other clubs mean nothing.

Dissapointed with the Wijnaldum news, as I was with the Shaqiri news last week.
Thing is I do keep questioning how much genuine interest we had in these players.
Lets hope Wijnaldum is one of those flops from the erevedise and we can say "glad we stayed away from him"

Saying that the fume on here is silly. Wijanldum wasent mentioned by a single person on here as a potential target (including myself) and now its fumeville because he is going to newcastle

I assume we didn't actually have any interest in Shaquiri because he turned down Stoke and we still didn't go for him.

I look at things this way mate.

Is he really that good of a player if Newcastle are in for him? Same as shariqri, is he that good of a player that within 6 months, inter and bayern dont want him but stoke do?

Yes but that goes against the logic of your average pissy pants poster, who cries a little inside every time another team sign a foreigner with an exotic sounding surname.

There wasn't any genuine interest. That should stop you questioning things any more...

Interesting quotes today coming from the Ospina camp

"There are some possibilities (to move away) but my mind is at Arsenal. I want to stay. I am very happy in London and my family too so I hope that at least I can respect the the remainder of my contract."

But asked about the reported offer from Everton, he admitted: "They are a very competitive team, which showed significant things during the last season, with a good manager, and that play good football. It is a team to take into account and a great possibility [in case I leave]."
