Cannot see why Evans would sign for us, he is 27 and needs to be playing week in week out. He would be third choice for us at best. Also, at 27, he won't get any better, we have younger players who are going to move past him on the pecking order. I've read transfer fee of £12 mill, we couldn't pay that for a reserve. I don't mind him as a player but don't see the fit at Everton.
I have also had concerns about where we fit in a ball playing midfielder, but teams won't all play against us like Southampton, remember whose awful matches last year were teams sat back at Goodison and we couldn't break them down, a player who can open a defence with a pass would help us shake things up. A change in style could secure points in those types of matches.
We were one dimensional last season with the tippy tappy stuff let us now not just be a team who rely on counter attack, there will be teams who won't come at us.
I think a playmaker would be an asset.

30 games isn't third choice. It's rotation.

That's how many games Alcaraz and Distin played between them last season.

Any centre half coming will not be coming to warm the bench. Players can't play 38 games a season + cup matches these days.

Yesterday's win is the worst thing that could have happened really. It gives the board the justification it needed not to spend.

Woah! Steady on....don't ever want Everton to lose (maybe Man City was an exception). Regardless of winning we all know that the manager will want to always strengthen his team and we all know that the board are not up to the job so it doesn't change a thing.

30 games is a lot even though we were in the Eupora, can't see us needing a centre half to fill in that often this season , major injuries apart. If we have little money I rather see it spent on a playmaker.

Barkley in away counter attacking games like yesterday is exactly what we need in no10 position. however Barkley playing in the behind Rom in home games were we are the pressing team isn't his game hence we need that technical player to provide guile and find that key to unlock tight units added to the up in tempo maybe making one pass instead of three at times to catch the opposition out.
I see Barkley dropping back next to macca for home games personally as he can still get forward but no need for 2 holding players.

In summary
CB cover needed (Mori?)
Yarmelenko ?
Striker?

Surely we will sign before the City game. We need to strengthen for that tough game.

Eh ?? There's plenty of good reasons why we need to make signings quickly, but this ain't one of them. Martinez is right when he says no panic buys, we need players who can add something to the squad over the next 12 months and beyond. There's a high chance that any new signing won't start at the weekend anyway if they've not had much time training with the squad.
