Eh ?? There's plenty of good reasons why we need to make signings quickly, but this ain't one of them. Martinez is right when he says no panic buys, we need players who can add something to the squad over the next 12 months and beyond. There's a high chance that any new signing won't start at the weekend anyway if they've not had much time training with the squad.

It just seems silly not to get them in before tough games.

A couple of boss new players before next weeks game on the back of yesterday would really lift everybody and get GP rocking for the visit of Eddie Large and his band of Moss Side scruffs.

Barkley in away counter attacking games like yesterday is exactly what we need in no10 position. however Barkley playing in the behind Rom in home games were we are the pressing team isn't his game hence we need that technical player to provide guile and find that key to unlock tight units added to the up in tempo maybe making one pass instead of three at times to catch the opposition out.
I see Barkley dropping back next to macca for home games personally as he can still get forward but no need for 2 holding players.

Yesterday's win is the worst thing that could have happened really. It gives the board the justification it needed not to spend.

Yesterdays win came from our players playing far closer to the level they should be at every week.
It is nonsense to suggest it alters anything in the tiniest way.
Do people genuinely believe that clubs are run in such a kneejerk fashion ?
It has always been obvious since last June that the manager has known who his targets were.
At the time he said that he was delighted to get Cleveley and Deulofeu at the start but the other targets would take a lot longer.

I think the only player that we really wanted but couldn't sign was Scott Dann.

I think that Aeroplane message was stupid and small time.

See what your sayin Jack , think that formation will work agst most sides in the Prem . Think City are a totally different propostion to Southampton.
City's forward line will pick holes in any defence in this league Silva Aguero & Yaya are very different to what we faced yesterday.

Surely we will sign before the City game. We need to strengthen for that tough game.

but does signing someone and playing them in that game without properly integrating them into the squad, strengthen or weaken us? This is precisely the reason we should be doing our transfer business ASAP when the window opens. I know that's not always possible but your post highlights the dangers of not doing so.
