Why are we mentioning keepers. Are we forgetting Robles at West Ham. 6 foot 5 and a great shot stopper who now looks to start dominating on crosses. Frankly Ospina never impressed me when I saw him.

James McCarthy to Tottenham story won't go away, but reading this article, it really wouldn't make sense for him to go there, Mason and Bentaleb are first choice, yes they have sold Paulinho and Capoue, but if McCarthy went there he wouldn't be first choice.

Also in my mind £20m plus Lennon is not enough, I can't see us selling for that, would need to be more like £30m

In fairness 20m plus Lennon is a good price. I still don't think he should be sold.

Imagine if someone had posted a caught offside link in the old thread... LOL.

McCarthy won't leave us for Spurs. Don't think he'll go anywhere at all this summer. RM wouldn't allow it, he's his key player, and rightly so.

Not exactly. West Ham have probably offered him everything they can to get him, huge signing on fee, wages, bonuses and first team football. He's went there for the money, it's not worrying because Everton have been dealing with that for years.
Not losing out to West Ham. It's a result of the stadium. I've been saying it all year that with the new stadium West Ham will move above us in the pecking order.

The only glimmer of hope I have is that we're keeping the money to pay for a stadium but even that has gone quite now.

If you don't think that McCarthy would be first choice for Tottenham, then how can you justify a 30 million pound price tag? If McCarthy is half as good as people make out then he would walk into Spurs midfield, and people would be willing to spend 20 million pound on him. In reality, most people admit that no other clubs are going to pay the 20 - 25 million quid that Everton would demand, and that's simply because most sane people don't think he is worth that amount of money. I always ask myself how I would feel if Everton were making the deal, and I'd want a hell of a lot more than what McCarthy offers for over 20 million pound.
Have you considered ever being positive or optimistic about Everton? It is possible..

i've still yet to see any quotes saying we were/are after ogbonna - we possibly were a bit interested given the links, same with payet. but we probably saw the fee and didn't want to pay it and that was that. we've made no bid or contacted the player or anything so why is everyone crying saying we've been beaten to our "top target" by west ham.

carbon copy of the payet deal.

spurs would be a step sideways anyway.

Yea we lost out because the fee went too high because we're broke.

Pre-Premier league maybe, nowadays its not about the stature of the club, its about the green !! Money talks and whilst I would hate him to leave for Spurs, which I agree would be a sideways move in the opinions of most of our fans, I think that all footballers these days are driven by the coin.
