Gonna be totally honest and throw this one out here; I honestly don't rate Astori or Ogbonna. I always try to watch Fiorentina games whenever I can ever since we played them in Europe; my first sort of European experience as a young blue and I was dazzled by the purple shirts and the foreign sounding names. That Astori in particular is terrible. Think we'll be much better steering clear of those two.

Any thoughts on the McCarthy for 20m and Lennon that's been thrown around today by various jarg websites?

Seen loads of Spurs fans say 20m is too much and he's only worth 10-13m.

James McCarthy to Tottenham story won't go away, but reading this article, it really wouldn't make sense for him to go there, Mason and Bentaleb are first choice, yes they have sold Paulinho and Capoue, but if McCarthy went there he wouldn't be first choice.

Also in my mind £20m plus Lennon is not enough, I can't see us selling for that, would need to be more like £30m

Can Bobby resist? would perhaps be some more experienced competition for Tim this year, but would get in the way of Joel's development.

I'm guessing the fact he isn't here already is probably evidence that Bobby isn't interested, but I suppose he could be seeing if he's got the cash at the end of the window?

He's a good all rounder without being spectacular at anything, has (like most keepers on youtube) made some cracking saves down the years. Kicking could be better though.
Not the worst keeper in the world.

If you don't think that McCarthy would be first choice for Tottenham, then how can you justify a 30 million pound price tag? If McCarthy is half as good as people make out then he would walk into Spurs midfield, and people would be willing to spend 20 million pound on him. In reality, most people admit that no other clubs are going to pay the 20 - 25 million quid that Everton would demand, and that's simply because most sane people don't think he is worth that amount of money. I always ask myself how I would feel if Everton were making the deal, and I'd want a hell of a lot more than what McCarthy offers for over 20 million pound.
