The fact we've only spent £4.5 million reflects that the window is still open and we can still bring players in. There's no evidence at all to stack up to what you suggest has happened mate - in fact we have very strong evidence on this forum that we tabled a bid of over £15m for a Ukranian playmaker, which was accepted at the level (ie. we weren't lowballing) but a rather maverick and egotistical owner then decided not to sell.

Give it a chance mate! If we're still in the same position in 72 hours time I'll be right there with you.
There's no actual evidence to say we did put such a high bid in as much as I trust roydo. And let's have it right, no manager wants to leave things so late. The one saving grace is we've took out another one of them loans this year so there is money there for something, hopefully it's towards a decent calibre of signing

if money really is an issue what is wrong with gourcuff? real class player imo. we should get him even if we have massive funds though tbh.

Not sure mate, i'm certain we'll get some bodies in on deadline day but i just hope it's ones that we actually need.

If he didn't get a number ten or whatever it is he's been speaking about for months then it'd be pretty disappointing

We've clearly been trying, Yarmolenko and Shaqiri we blatant targets. What comes next could be interesting to see though, but there'll certainly be trying things.

Shaqiri wasn't a target, inter have said the only reason he went to Stoke was because no one else made an offer for him.

But yeah, i suspect we will still be trying.

Think you mistook that mate, we tried to loan not buy him, so Stoke where strictly speaking the only team offering to buy him

We still tried to get him in though

i'm sure you'd see it through the thread, also the people suggesting a striker like austin.. which would immediately rule out having the funds to get the type of player we need
Have Austin up front with Lukaku would change the way we play though and lessen that need for a sexy number 10. But then hardly anyone plays 4-4-2 anymore because you then get outnumbered in midfield.

Surely can't be true that only Stoke were in for him

Bloke has question marks about his character i guess due to bouncing out of two big clubs in a matter of 6 months, always going to be a risk to buy him for whoever, could be a great deal for Stoke or an absolute Van Der Meyde

Surely can't be true that only Stoke were in for him

It all comes down to his attitude in the end mate, Stoke were just the only deal willing to sign him permanently and on a long contract, it's what put us off and made us want to loan instead of buy
