Transfer Window Thread

Well, FWIW, my source is in here tonight, unexpectedly I must admit, so maybe we will get an informed opinion on this.

As an aside, he has tonight helped a blue on here make contact with an old mate in Kiev, who he hasnt spoken to in 15 years ffs!
What's the point? He didn't sign?

Yarmolenko would have gone to us because we gave him a way out. We all know that. Kiev didn't accept the deal because it was so close to the end of the window and the CL group stage was favourable to them which was something I predicted they would do.

What more is there to know?

It's not about net spend. If you want to think like that, look at the club across the park. They've had at least a £50m net spend for the last few seasons and where has that got them?

It's about getting the players we need.

Did we get the players we need?

No. No we did not.
My whole point was net spend doesnt matter

Finally he will probably go to Barca in January.

No idea if he's a good one or not, but I agree.

The insatiable craving for signings is truly alarming.

It's over now. Just support the ones we have.

Tubes, we probably have been incompetent mate. Well colour me shocked. It's Everton.

Agree entirely. How many players better than Kev/Ross are actually within our price range? Martinez would be slaughtered if he spent wedge on a number 10 who is not even as good as Ross. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.....

I think a big part of my disappointment with this window is that RM has spent so much time talking about how much he hates doing business in January. So it means a year before we can sign anyone. ::sigh:: (Cheeky Ospina bid with half the Yarm money? ... I mean c'mon!)

Yeah mate because a French bloke who only knows English football in the PL era is gonna think there are no bigger clubs than us.

I understand expecting someone paid to comment on football for a living to have any knowledge of anything he didn't first hand experience in his lifetime is asking too much.

By that logic it's odd he's ever heard of Mori really since he didn't play for Wimbledon in 1999.

I am NEA about us in particular and the whole "big club" thing. It's just that they always have to mention "big clubs" that pisses me off. Hate it when it happens to any side (well aside from the RS of course). Even if you accept it as gospel it's still very weird to have to say it out loud all the time about everything. They have a disease. They have a pool of words they use and they can't help but use those words to describe every single thing that happens ever.

Disappointed we've missed out on a forward. In a lot of games in the last 12 months, our main problem has been a lack of support and service to Lukaku. Saturday was a good example of that.

The attacking positions needed strengthening this summer. Getting both Deulofeu and Lennon for £8-9m is fantastic, but still, they're unlikely to completely solve the problem. Barkley will probably continue at attacking midfield and unless he makes a huge improvement on last season's performance, may not deliver enough there for us to achieve anything of note in the league this year.

There are positives to take from the window, but I'm a bit concerned that management have allowed this to happen after prioritising the "number 10" position so much all summer. Martinez has to get these players performing to a much higher standard than last season as there's no excuse now for poor performance. The money was there to match the spending of the Stokes of this world and he has elected not to it seems.

He will, he already has.

Can anyone explain the logic behind the Lennon signing (still not announced)? Without selling Mcgeady that means we have 5 wide players with Pienaar,Mcgeady,Mirallas,Del and then the 5th in Lennon. Yet Bobby will still deploy Kone/Barkley out wide or they'll eventually drift there in games. Cleverly when he comes back would play left side which sucks. Del will take time starting games and that's why I was against Lennon's signing cos we want to give Del the confidence to start and impact games from the 1st minute. Mirallas should take up the other wing if he can stay fit. We only need 1 or 2 backup wingers not 3. Lennon would be an automatic starting which sucks for Del.
