Hold on, you cant have your cake and eat it too. You cant say that an audacious move for Yarmolenko was put into place by RM and accepted then say he's been useless in his pursuit of a playmaker. Not according to your take on the deal.

I've not said he's useless at all.

Martinez is prepared to take gambles with his transfers, it came off with McCarthy, Lukaku and Barry a few years ago. This year it didn't and we're left scratching round.

Somehow win some you lose, but it's Martinez's call and not the boards fault like you implied.

Nobody is saying that though. I'm saying if you identify an area of the squad that needs improving, have alternative targets so you fill that position, like any business would.

But as we know football as many twists and turns. Unless your behind the scenes nobody knows, it's all whispers and rumours. We could have 3 people lined up and all the plugs got pulled. It's like a housing chain, you let a key player go then you want a replacement, you fail to find that replacement then you pull the plug

Yeah I'd get that if the primary target was extremely likely, then you turn to others and the boat has sailed.

But we've known the Yarmolenko deal was unlikely for some time now. To not have a list of credible alternates with days left, or to miss out on every single one, suggests something has gone badly wrong.

[Poor language removed] window not bothered what any one says unless ross has a unreal season its gonna be a long ride now im usually positive that we'll pull something out the bag but im worried about this season

that's not a cat!

He is a No 10. That's number he wears on his shirt. What we wanted was someone that could provide assists to Rom. I think you are getting caught up with where they play. Yarmolenko does that.

Shaqiri not so much but he's brilliant when teams park the bus.

He's very much like Mirallas though (but slower). He's nothing like a Carzola, Silva, Mata, etc a proper creative door unlocker.

And I'm not sold on Shaqiri when I've seen him. And neither were the majority of teams apart from Stoke in European football.
