I don't think Jagielka can be expected to nurture and protect 3 young cbs throughout the season, and captain the side.

Those two are great prospects, but they need tutors alongside them.

Think jags has done an excellent job so far with Stones, and the 2 best games iv seen browning in have been alongside Jags.

If we signed any one of yarmolenko, shaqiri or mertens, and ospina, id be happy with that being the end of our business on ins.

Fill out striker, cb and maybe another winger with loans, and try to shift on a few for anything we can bring in, mcgeady, howard, kone being the three imo we need shut of most

You've got strong opinions on who we shouldn't, so what is the solution?

Dont sign anyone if not suitable. Why sign Evans coz hes only one available

Honestly though mate, if we signed him and he prooved boss, long term it would basically mean he replaces jags, leaving browning and galloway screwed

At the end of last season we all knew we needed some pace out wide and a better back up centre half than Distin and Alcaraz and if we sign Evans then we have done that with him and Del and not spent a huge amount in doing it. If we have some money left to sign a creative attacker then great. We have had worse summers, at least we have signed people before we have sold some.

German and italian media were throwing around availabe for €20m-25 at the end of the season mate, so yeah arpund that mark, think myself he could have dodgy ownership or something otherwise dont see why someone hasnt bought him already

Why has @the esk closed the Evans thread considering what has been put in the OP by @GrandOldTeam ?

If multiple papers are running the same story with similar transfer fees then it looks credible. People weren't saying ignore them when the Deulofeu reports appeared.

Of course Martinez isn't going to say anything about other players. If we're going to shut down everything until the player has a shirt in his hands we may as well just close the whole forum.

A bit like that other fella who went to Sevilla it sounds like with ownership issues etc. Hopefully we get our playmaker in the next week or so to at least give them a chance of a couple of pre season games with us.

I know what RM said today but as with all managers during transfer window time they can bend the truth a little.
I think there may be interest in Evans but if it happens ,as with Lennon, it could be last day.

At present we have Jagielka, Stones and Browning. Unless we get some kind of injury crisis we should be alright for the first number of games.
Utd lost out completely on Cleverley and could do the same with Evans. Spurs are in exactly the same situation with Lennon.
Both Spurs and Utd will play hardball with both of these players right up to the last day, but it makes no sense refusing to sell a player for a modest fee rather than lose them for nothing.
Neither of those players may come to Everton,but they are leaving their clubs.

I have no problem with signing Evans I have a problem with paying more tham 4m for a Utd reserve with no future at the club and twelve months left on his contract. I think he is a decent player.
Ironically if you look at his career stats his career at Utd went into decline after SAF left . He averaged 20 league games a season for the previous five seasons under SAF.
