Do you know much about this Van Dijk?
Always liked him as a player, even back to the days he was playing in Holland. He really has a lot of composure and posessional sense. Good passer of the ball and also physically strong. Imo, he should be at the heart of the National team's defence. Preferrably paired with De Vrij. Really think he'd fit in well at Everton.

The thing with Van Djik is he was very impressive against some of the best forwards in Europe last season in the champions league.

It's often difficult to judge players playing in Scotland I agree, but the Champions league games give you a better idea.

Wanyama is another who came from Celtic, and has proved to be an excellent midfielder for Southapmpton down here.

do they like everton? who do they think we should sign? lets get the youth opinion here

They do mate, they have no choice in the matter. I think the eldest would like to see us sign one of the Creepers from Minecraft and the youngest would like us to somehow fit Thomas the tank engine into the starting eleven. He argues that he has a good engine on him.

Follow celtic as well. Van djik is decent alright. Strong quick confident and decent touch for a cb. Difficult to see him being a back up though. One of the only players in the scottish league that would currently cut it in the premier.Unless stones gets kidnapped by that Russian mob I don't see a bid for him. Will take 8/10 mill to pry him. If stones goes where we gonna get 2 cbs?

Being an outstanding player in Scotland doesn't mean you'll never be one else where

Southampton were taking a chance with Fraiser Forster and it paid off

If we don't sign Virge, someone else will and he WILL be excellent for them

Mikey, you are entitled to your opinon, but , it is only your opinon and there really is nothing other than his performances in a third division league
which indicates that he may turn out to be a good player. There isn't even any international form to go on.

Of course good players come down from Scotland, Israel, Costa Rica, all sorts of weird and wonderful places.
However, for every player that came from Scotland and was the next sure thing there are probably a dozen that have not made the top grade.

If we sign Virgil, it will as a speculative punt, hoping that he can transfer his Scottish form onto a much higher level..and there lies the problem.
Chris Commons would be regarded as Celtic better players, he is not close to being good enough to play premiership. At a fee of 4m probably worth a punt, more than that is too big a risk.

I would prefer to spend the kind of money suggested on a young centrehalf like Keane at Burnley.

He has been playing champions league football though.

Best mate has a season ticket up at celtic park, but he tends to have green and white tinted glasses when it comes to celtic players
E.g we are not using McGeady right, Hooper would score 20 goals if he played every week, and he also thinks Neil Lennnon is a great manager
But to be fair he was right about Forster & Wanayama

Anyway he rates Van Dijk but says he only plays one gear and thats his own and aparently hes not the quickest, which is probably why he looked good in europe were the pace is slower and he has a tendency to let the ball go over him if a team plays a ball over the top to the forward.
Saying that, thats him being picky and he certainly has the build and the techique to have a go in the prem
