"It is an important summer,” he told Everton TV. “It becomes about recruitment and that’s the priority. I think we are very clear in what we need.
“No tournament this summer does help. Our business could happen in a much smoother manner and we will try to do it as quickly as we can with some of our targets. Others we will try to bring in late because of the type of player that we need to bring in.

can people calm down please with the doom mongering, there will be signings

Does anyone else think this will end in tears and Southampton beating us to him ? Koeman , Forster , Wanyama and now Clasie all being at the club will play a massive factor in his decisions surely ?

The Boumsong and Van Dijk comparisons. They are different types of players completely. Just because that clown of a manager Souness paid 8 million for him on the back of a half decent six months (yes six months!) 10 years ago, why should that be held against VVD in 2015?

Before Van Dijk moved to Celtic he was in the Eredvise team of the year at the age of 21, and has probably since been Celtic's stand out player domestically and in Europe for the past 2 seasons. The snobbery on here from some is just unbelievable. Just because someone is playing in Scotland means he's tosh?

Look at Wanyama, adjusted to the PL smoothly and was one of the best DM's in the league last year. Ki, another good player who has been consistently good in England/Wales since his move to Swansea. For me Van Dijk is a better player than both. One of our best players came from Scotland ffs.

If he moves here (and I hope he does), you will all love him.

Take no bread poultice mate. You'd think any player signed from a lesser league than the prem is gonna be poo.
As you say Wanyama & Ki done very well .Now where was it we got Seamus from ?
Not seen too much of Van Dijk but what I have seen he is good in the air , comfortable on the ball
and without knocking Celtic looks a class above them.Looks strong & a bit of snide in him.
So ye if he comes here the lad gets my full support.....trust me we've had far far worse.

Naisy has done well truth be told. Scores important goals- this is not a wind up.

Roberto's gonna fool us all, Buy Van Dijk, keep Stones and play 3 at the back with Coleman and Baines playing as wingbacks.

In the words of MLK - "I have a dream"

Missed out on another target.

Shaun Wright-Phillips has signed for New York Red Bulls and will join his younger brother Bradley at the Major League Soccer club.

The 33-year-old winger, who made 36 England appearances, has made the move following nearly four years at QPR.

He has also had spells at Manchester City and Chelsea and made 299 Premier League appearances.

"He has been training here and we have seen his professionalism," Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch said.

"We think he is a tremendous addition both on the field and as a veteran presence in our locker room."

Shaun Wright-Phillips, who was a free agent after his QPR contract expired last month, played with striker Bradley at Manchester City in 2004.

Bradley Wright-Phillips, 30, joined Red Bulls in 2013 and has scored 41 goals in 63 appearances for the club.
