That is probably because our signings will be either Evans or Van Dijk and Lennon with possibly a number 10 on loan. Would be surprised if the centre half we get isn't one of them and Lennon will join on deadline day.

They don't have a hope of getting out of the group stages so they might as well cash in as soon as they qualify. They'll be getting the Champions League money + guaranteed gate money at that point.

They wont qualify though, the furthest they will go is to the round united join in and then they will get knocked out

The article tries to read too much into what John Collins said - "Would it be difficult to keep him if we don’t make the Champions League? Probably. But hopefully we won’t have to deal with that scenario."

If Van Dijk wants to come to Everton I wouldn't imagine Celtic's CL progress would be a crucial factor. It's more likely that we're delaying our bid so as not to give Chelsea any encouragement to come back in for Stones.
