Transfer Window Thread

We're saving our beans till deadline day....we'll be the biggest spenders on the day and we'll get loads of publicity on the back of it....it's almost as if Kitbag have done it as a marketing exercise.

for the love of god Martinez said he'd wait til the end of the window for some players. wind it in lads
But why so we have to leave it so late? Surely it is better to get players in during pre-season so they can adapt to training methods and get used to their teammates and style of play. Leaving it so close to the end of the window smacks of desperation and usually paying more for players. Furthermore scrambling for players at this time usually follows a bad start.

4.5 mil at present we are the lowest spending club in the premiership. Of course there is another month to go to buy but that means another month for our players to be bought as well. How we haven't got another center half in by now is very poor management. They knew the milkman and that lad with the jail name would be off. They knew a top 4 club would be looking at stones. It ain't like it's not obvious. No playmaker. No back up front man. Where's that "who's wearing the Martinez mask "thread goddammit

why would this matter if we're not going to enter the possibility of selling him.

We need to add some experienced quality players and the likes of Dragovic (who's still actually young) fall into this category IMO.

Bobby must know it's time to spend some cash.

with this board i feel sorry for any manager we have to be honest. if these van dijk rumours are true (i don't think they are) - but it's quite plausible based on martinez' comments about waiting until they're available. all very well people saying we should do all our business on the first day of the window etc. but maybe our wage structure doesn't allow. i like to wait until the window is over before fuming.

you can't just buy a player from a club by the click of your fingers. they have to get in a replacement as well and sometimes you have to wait until then before completing your own transfer. there's more forward thinking to be done than looking at having your squad in place for the 1st game of the season.

think Martinez believes we'll get more for our money at the end of the window. here's what he said back in may:
"It is an important summer,” he told Everton TV. “It becomes about recruitment and that’s the priority. I think we are very clear in what we need.
“No tournament this summer does help. Our business could happen in a much smoother manner and we will try to do it as quickly as we can with some of our targets. Others we will try to bring in late because of the type of player that we need to bring in.
