so...who's the third senior CB? Jags, Stones....? Distin and Alcaraz are gone, cant think of any others..?

I think the assumption is that we will buy another CB in this window, which seems feasible, no?

But we don't have Euro and they are at an age when they want to start contributing to Everton and not going out on more and more loans. There are cup games and then there is the need if they are called upon. I expect them to take their opportunity. Otherwise they won't ever make it here. You can't keep holding players back saying no were not in Europe so there's no game time.

If they are good enough then they are old enough. Proven so with Stones. Playing devil's advocate here,admittedly CB along with GK are two positions where a modicum of experience is preferable in some instances.

i'd agree if stones wasn't so young himself. regardless of how good he is, he's no older than the other two. we have 1 senior and 3 youngsters as our centre back options atm. it's all a bit moot anyway because we don't have much cash to afford what would be perfect. i'm just expressing how much of a risk it is tbh - especially given that the two in discussion haven't even played a minute of prem football at centre back. ideally one would be on loan for a season and then next season we're back in europe and can share the burden.

Anyone think there will be no more movement in the market until the TV money comes into the accounts? So thats a month maybe more, and we will see a few targets go elsewhere because of it?

It's not like getting your pocket money as a kid you know?

It's 100% guaranteed income, so if the club wanted/needed to buy someone now, surely they'd have absolutely NO problem accessing the required money, for a relatively small charge (due to lack of risk)?

categorically this club has spent many recent years waiting until august to sign a player when they havent got that surplus waiting there. Moyes had it worst most years.

Perhaps its a coincidence or perhaps theres truth behind it, who knows.

I always thought that was more down to the fact that in years gone by we've been proper skint, and didn't want to pay out a load of wages that we didn't need to by signing people early?

And that certainly wouldn't be the case the days, as all Premier League clubs (ourselves included) are operating in a very different financial landscape these days (and it'll only become more pronounced from next season) due to the ridiculous size of the tv deals.

Still 2 defenders and 1 striker short of a balanced squad. If any more midfielders come in then I would expect others to leave.

He has many of the attributes for RB, but not the experience. He needs more play time this season.
