Roberto Martinez insists Everton’s lack of transfer activity is no cause for concern.

The Blues have added only two players to the first-team squad this summer, with Gerard Deulofeu and Tom Cleverley arriving at Goodison at the start of July.

Martinez has revealed that he wants to bring in three more players before the close of the transfer window on September 1 - but confirmed that no new signings will be made before the start of the new season tomorrow.

The Catalan is willing to wait until the end of the window to secure the “right targets” even though that would mean they miss Everton’s first four games of the season.

Blues supporters have grown anxious over the lack of transfer activity but when asked there was any worry at the club over a lack of business, Martinez said: “No.

“We worked really hard to get those two signings straight away because they were important. they were the ones we felt were needed in the group for different reasons.

“Then I wanted to assess the youngsters and give them an opportunity to show what they can do in the first-team and we have been able to do that in pre-season.

“From that point on it is making sure we bring in the right targets.

“It is not easy to get the players you want early in the window but I am not concerned at all.”

Martinez wants a new central defender, a playmaker and a striker and added: “There’s a real clarity that we need three new players and that’s what we’re going to work as hard as we can on from now until deadline day.

“The important thing is that we have a real continuity from what we’ve done in the last two seasons and we have that.

“We need to carry on and growing those players and that is the way we will be able to compete with teams with bigger budgets because of their participation in the Champions League.

“There’s always work done behind the scenes, that’s the nature of the transfer window. We are very clear in what we want and what we need.

“I’ve been very impressed with the young players but I think it’s fair to say we need to get some experience in that would help them further develop into what they can be.”

I remember when Villa fans thought Moyes was leaving us to join them. His odds tumbled from 20-1 to 4-1 on within hours. The bookies stopped taking bets for a bit.

Then Alex McGliesh was announced.

......down to 2-1 now and 7-4 in a place for Austin to join us. Money pouring on.

Over the few occasions I watched QPR last year Austin was really impressive. Seems like the type of player that is ready made for our team giving the fact he offers something slightly different to Lukaku and already has a great work ethic. Could signal the end to persisting with Kone now too which would also be a blessing.

Pretty sure thats just a mashed together "interview" from 2-3 older ones and the papers passing it off as new.

Martinez was in London. But then so was every other PL manager cos they all have a meeting every year just before the start of the season. So I reckon by that logic it means Austin could be going to one of 20 clubs?

If the photo that somebody posted of Bobby was in fact from yesterday at Euston, then he would have been there for a different reason - the PL managers meeting was on Tuesday, confirmed in this link in the Daily Fail;

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...s-gather-London-annual-pre-season-summit.html

My money is on him attending a work permit hearing for Tomas Andrade, or perhaps meeting with Bill to discuss upcoming transfer strategy and finances, incoming or outgoing...

I think the Austin rumour has substance to it as I read something a stranger had written on the Internet stating that It was happening. I chose to believe that stranger and am now thinking of whether he will play upfront with Lukaku. Looking forward to being upset when he signs for Spurs and kone starts against Watford
