Travel thread 3.0

The drugs aren’t legal. The stuff the guys try selling on the street is all dink. Can often spot an angry tourist looking for someone who just sold them a gram of bicarbonate of soda for €100.

Drugs have been legalised in Portugal for some time.

Edit: what I mean by this is having them on you. Like my story above you can’t just openly take them.

Thanks. I was wondering because I did a distance between two cities search which gave the different ways of travelling between them,
and it worked to about the same price for a taxi as the train fare for three people.
I was thinking about doing it instead booking train tickets, but I suppose you'd have to give the taxi company a fair bit of notice and it wouldn't be much use if it was because you'd missed your train.

Train fares in Britain don't make much sense to me. I've got train tickets for three from Stafford to Plymouth in September for 434 pounds and from Plymouth to London a few days later for 106 pounds. Both midweek and same distance.
Im pretty sure our train network is based on archaic zones, loosely speaking, so depends which you pass through (and is why you can save by 'split ticketing' - i'll try and dig out the article, might have misremembered). Plus there's a mad system of peak, super off-peak, early booking discounts etc in place. Chuck in different companies with different rates (often relating to speed of trip) it is an absolute mess.

Yeh not sure on the technicalities but they sell it openly on the streets. Just don’t get caught snorting off your brothers hand on a dance floor like I did ;)
Yes anything under 5 grams is legal, I've asked my mate to sort me 4.9 gram bag for when i go.

Yeh like they’ll charge you a bomb anyway I suspect but even worse without much notice that’s if they’d do it at all.

Have you got any form on railcard?
I've booked train tickets online and been asked if railcard is included, but I don't even know what it is.

Probs too late now but you can get various railcards for an up front fee and they give you, usually, huge discounts on train travel. Good to know for future.

Cheers cheeks x
True story this but if you look behind you there’s a flat topped dormant volcano separating the sand dunes from the rest of Fuerte. At the very top of that monumental beast is an artificial Christmas tree. I was assured it was still there a couple of years ago and want to say if it’s still there that it was I and a few hardy friends who put it there 20 years ago.

If I get to escape the toddlers, I'll go looking!
