Travel thread 3.0

Mate of mine has just broken up with his gf with whom he was going to Barcelona. He's just offered me the flight for free so I'm going with him now instead. Lucky him.

Any recommendations for things to do in Barcelona gratefully received ;)

Lived here for 13yrs

Go to Gracia and wonder around a nice neighborhood with small bars and cafes, and if you like Peruvian food or would be interested in trying it I recommend La Punta Callao for dinner. Probably my favourite restaurant

If you have any particular things you like to do just ask and I’m sure I have more recommendations

Including if just going out on the lash

Wife’s just booked a long weekend in Poznan at end of month. Anyone been before and have any ‘must do’ suggestions, restaurant and bar suggestions?
Cheers

I went to Poznan many years ago with the then wife for one night. From what I remember it was very small with just a small square and clocktower with goats popping out once a day.
We stayed in a lovely B&B right in the square.

The wife took me to Barcelona for my 30th. Our night out drinking involved going to the George Payne and ordering a blackout tray between us. I ordered another after for myself. This was after already drinking beer and mojitos all throughout the day. Straight back to the apartment after.

We did go to some good food spots. Went to Milk for the nicest chorizo hash i have ever had. Went to one of the brunch and cakes restuarants too.

Any particular areas you’d recommend ? I mean, I always thought Antalya was a region but I appear to wrong, someone has said it’s a city ?
It was part of a trip throughout Turkey during my graduate student years, so did everything on a shoestring budget. So I don’t have any advice on restaurants—it was mostly instant noodles on a camper stove!

Stayed and spent most of time in the historic downtown area (Kaleici sp?). Awesome place to walk around and take in the Roman ruins. Hadrian’s gate is a must-see. Also, the beaches were great with the Taurus mountains in the background. One regret I have is not making it to Pamukkale, an ancient Roman bath/spa town, which I believe is a day trip from Antalya. Just didn’t have the money to make it there…but will definitely do so next time!

Brilliant, thanks for this. I’ve visited turkey a couple of times but have stayed in fetiyeh, oludeniz and hisaranou… all really close together. Been in some fantastic trips in the mountains and visited amphitheater ruins on the Silk Road with all the catacombs etc … done dalaman area and turtle beach and the mud baths…. Just fancied a different area this time and see some new things.

Oh Ive been to the George Payne but probably only 3 or 4 times in the last ten yr. Wouldn't be able for those monstrosities.

Milk is a good spot, with very good food and I think at least one of the owners is Irish. Pennybangers a great bar nearby.
