Travel thread 3.0

I don't see much gear laying around, do they mess with you at night? Spent a night getting harassed by a Ringtail Cat and these remind me so much of them, for obvious reasons.

No, the ring-tail lemurs are diurnal and don't run around at night. Not much goes on at night in terms of messing with our gear. Once, a team-member had a boot stolen from outside her tent by a stray dog. We found it chewed up in the forest the next day. We keep our gear in the back vestibule (or in the tent) to be safe, but it's never really been an issue.

I could defo see a ring-tail cat being a total **nt at night and messing with stuff.

Flung it off my sleeping bag about 4 times through the night.... I believe they're pretty solitary so we figured it was young/curious; probably thought it was fun when it went flying 30+ feet each time I launched it. 😃

I enjoy travelling abroad on my own…..go where you like and do as you please… and I’ve been on quite a few European city breaks, Paris, Rome, Bruges, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Dublin, Copenhagen, Barcelona, and Lisbon. All lovely cities in their own right, but Lisbon was the one that I enjoyed the most…..picture postcard views around every corner and amazingly beautiful. I’m off to Prague next in September, it looks very pretty from the pictures I’ve seen and I’m looking forward to wandering around and exploring the old town

Spent a week in Reykjavik with my brother, got back on tuesday. Really awesome place and the locals are incredibly friendly. Walked around a dormant volcano, nicked a bit of volcano rock as a souvenir, went snorkelling in crystal clear glacier water between tectonic plates and had a lovely soak in the blue lagoon (which nearly calcified my hair).
English speakers and signs everywhere so its a very easy place for us to go. Only downside was how expensive everything was.

I went back in July, does it actually get dark there now? It was very weird to be in perpetual daytime.

I was gutted I didn't manage to swim between the tectonic plates, definitely something I'll do if I can ever afford to go back. Must have been amazing.

Just booked a flight to Valencia for late September. Got ten days so won’t spend all my time there. Thinking of going to Malaga too. Wanted to go to Barcelona but left it too last minute and hotel prices are a bit steep. I’ll save that one for next year
Really like Malaga. There’s a mad wine bar there https://antiguacasadeguardia.com/ where me and some mates went one afternoon and things went a bit mad

Went in that bar with the wife this summer, really good place , @Billy Dean we stayed for 3 nights , I’ve only passed through before I was pleasantly surprised how nice it is.
Have you been to Alicante? Looks not too far from Valencia.
Alicante is ok , we got the train to Valencia and back from there a few years ago, Cordoba is nice but you can see everything in a couple of days

My trip was booked so last minute, that accommodation was getting through the roof. So just shortened the trip. Doing 6 days in Valencia only. Malaga and Barcelona will have to wait for another time.

6 days for Valencia is probably gonna be too much but will do a few day trips from there
