Travel thread 3.0

In Granada, it's worth a hike up to the Caves of Sacromonte. It has great views of the Alhambra in the distance. The area is supposed to be a bit dodgy so watch out. It may be worth booking on a guided tour.

In Córdoba, even if you're not a big gardener like Joey, you should definitely take a guided tour of the various inner courtyards (patios).

Also, if you can get over the fact that he is an annoying Tory, Michael Portillo's Channel 5 series about Andalusia is decent. Seems to be on YouTube also.

Thanks - not sure I’ll have time for a hike (the Renfe train looks like taking a couple of hours from Seville to Granada and then similar time the other way), but will check out the Cordoba stuff.

Fair enough. If you are only there for the day you will want to make the most of your time in the Alhambra and the Generife gardens (and enjoying some beers and free tapas in the city where they were invented).

I was in Granada years ago and the tapas really is amazing. Literally no need to pay for dinner as the tapas is really good and plentiful

Just booked this year's holiday - going to Seville and want to spend a day each in Granada (to see the Alhambra) and Cordoba (to see the Mosque-Cathedral and other stuff), as well as looking around Seville itself. Any other recommendations?
Apparently, the Alhambra and similarly popular sites get booked up well in advance. Don't know this for sure but it might be worth checking to avoid disappointment?

In Seville, the Cathedral is worth queuing for just for the views from the top of the tower alone. There are a number of other things to see in there as well. The queue for the alcazar is also worth it. Like most Spanish cities you can spend several days wandering round the old town regions, discovering something new every day ...
