Had a few hours in Rhodes couple of years ago on a day trip from Turkey, absolutely loved walking around the old town
Yeah, more than a decade ago now, so can't remember the finer details, but stayed around ipanema beach, and there's plenty of bars and restaurants to have fun in. I never had any issues there but friends got mugged and had to hand over wallets and phones. Normal safety rules apply. Always have some mugging money on you, and leave the expensive phones, watches and sunglasses at home or the hotel.
Oh and if you're not tanned to a mahogany colour and/or don't intend trying to attain that colour, avoid the beaches. The locals won't know what to make of you.
Last day in Cancun today and despite Chichen Itza being #1 on my bucket list, I'm feeling rather underwhelmed. The tour was 14 hours and unless you drive it's the only way to get there. The site itself is sparse outside of El Castillo. The 2nd item on the itinerary was a 45min stop in "Yucatan's 2nd largest city", Valladolid. It's a church and an ice-cream shop. The last stop is a swim in a cenote and the worst buffet I've seen in my life. There are better candidates for a wonder in my opinion.
Another disappointment was the food. I love Mexican food. At least I thought I did. It turns out that traditional Mexican food is pretty bland. I'm looking forward to some imitation stuff when I get home later this month.

Anyone been to Menorca of late? Having to do a school summer time hols (despite the fact I hate crowds). 4 kids, 16, 13 x2 and 6.... (2 families), trying to please everyone, within a budget, and decent flight times..... Menorca seems best option....

Not been that recently but I’ve been twice , 1999 with our 3 kids and 2018 just me and the wife. It’s very family orientated , lots of families with kids and grandparents , I’d say it’s your best option.
