The Mandalorian Season 2

Hmmm...

Still enjoying it somewhat and the visual effects are cinema quality as you’d expect, but every episode seems to be following the same formula now.

Mando turns up in location, trusts the very first person he meets to help him. Said person betrays and tries to kill him, Mando is bailed out by new/returning allies who then request he return the favour by killing a group of people/unfeasibly large creature for them while he waits for his space ship to be repaired.

Rinse and repeat.

This is spot on.

I don't understand the vast numbers of highly positive reviews of the first season. It was generic, formulaic, lacked inventiveness and had a paper-thin storyline. Most of the casting was pish too, with the notable exception of Nick Nolte.

Mandalorian is ok, not as good as what some people rave about it being but it’s an easy watch and visually nice but feels like a bit of a let down from what it could’ve been

Organised crime, the Vatican, bent cops and council officials in a web of murder, deceit, corruption and dirty politics.

So basically a Vatican documentary.

We just binged the Queen's Gambit and I thought it was excellent. Great performances and, even though I'm an awful chess player, I enjoyed the little bits of theory and swiss-pairing style tournament dynamics at play in the competition bits.

Anyone got a series suggestion on Amazon Prime? Watched The Boys, but other than that I struggle to find anything that look appealing. If there's any good prime movies I'm interested in that as well ofc.

I might revisit that. Kinda lost its way halfway through season 2 I thought but I heard it picks back up again. How many seasons are there? Is it still going?

4th was the final one. It really tailed off though so I'm not sure if I want to tell you to finish it all off haha.

Jack Ryan is good, as someone who's read every book in the series i thought it'd be a bit of a let down but i enjoyed it. Not a great fan of John Krasinski's acting though, seems very robotic.
