TV Series

So basically a Vatican documentary.

We just binged the Queen's Gambit and I thought it was excellent. Great performances and, even though I'm an awful chess player, I enjoyed the little bits of theory and swiss-pairing style tournament dynamics at play in the competition bits.

Been meaning to watch that. Caught the first episode and I liked it. And it sparked a re-interest in chess; I was never that good, but used to play a lot in grade school with some friends. Then we discovered girls.

I’m still trying to work out if I liked it or not. Was pretty tense. Wasn’t really expecting that
the bit with the kid just randomly coming across the hammer straight away wasn’t particularly believable I thought.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, have to say. I like how:

The twist was there wasn't a twist. He did it and, when you think about it, it was obviously him. My mind had veered from Sutherland's character to the blonde lawyer woman and, certainly, you could have contrived to have a twist like that with just a few stretches of believability. But he murdered her, and was such a credible sociopath that even I thought he was innocent for most of the series

I was convinced it was Sutherland
