The Defeated - Netflix.

Anglo German 8 parter, set in the ruins of West Berlin 1946.

An American detective is sent to help the West German police force in Berlin reorganise themselves post World War 2.

Serial killers are at large, along with interference from the Russians at every angle and endemic corruption.

Despite a cracking cast and amazing sets, it falls a bit flat, due the fact that the main plot, becomes muddled up with sub plots.

The always excellent Logan Marshal Green, steals the show as an American solider gone rogue, hunting hiding Nazis with extreme prejudice.

Still worth a watch though.
Remarkable how nearly every German character speaks perfect English, even the young kids. Highly unlikely in post war Berlin

Not really sure what to make of Clickbait. 4 eps in and whilst it isn't exceptional in terms of production, acting etc. it's at least intriguing enough to stick with for now.

Finished season one of Hit & Run over the weekend. Bit of a slow burner, but was generally okay.
The acting and production is so so but it does hook you in and keep you guessing.

You won't see the ending coming if you stick with it.

This is surprisingly good, but won’t be for everyone:

Post-mortem - No one dies in Skarnes.

It’s a very well put together black comedy, with a horror element.

Set in a one horse Norwegian town ( Skarnes ) The daughter of the local undertaker, is found dead in the middle of a snowy field and returns to life in the mortuary with an insatiable appetite for blood. ( she isn’t a vampire )

It’s very well written and acted, with the occasional burst of bloody violence. The writing style is very similar to the excellent Lillyhammer.

Netflix - Norwegian with subs.

Funny, the wife and I binged the first season this week so I was just about to post it.

Quite good I thought. Not quite on the level of Lilyhammer in my opinion, primarily due to a few characters simply not being interesting enough. The lead character being one of them unfortunately. She's also not the greatest actress ever and her dialogue flow is constantly awkward. If that's by choice it's strange. Some of the characters are great though, especially Odd the funeral agent.

All in all a fun watch but probably more fun for Norwegians considering the different accents and how that relates to stereotypes. Watched it in Norwegian with English subs as well, for the wife's sake. Have to say the subs are pretty bad and the wife spammed me with questions (is that really what she said? etc.)

How they expand the second series is going to be interesting.

The Norwegians deffo have a very dark sense of humour lol
