TV Series

Invasion didn’t do it for me really.

Invasion is a bit of a mixed bag. At times it gives the feel that you are engaged with a big budget production but it also manages to feel like a regional BBC production too.
We've just wrapped this up, not much cop I agree. Ponderous, nowhere near as clever as it thinks it is, there's at least one 'WTAF?/oh that's convenient' moment in each episode, and I get strong Lost vibes - "ooh, have a mystery... go on have another mystery... and another" aright, you got any answers? "erm.... have another mystery"

Get the feeling its gonna end up being (as the great Homer Simpson says) 'just a bunch of stuff that happened'

Only an episode in, very different premise, but I think the series remake of the Mr & Mrs Smith film might fill a Reacher shaped hole. More emphasis on the acting over the muscles and silliness, but might be ok brain-off comedy violence.

Episode 3 of Masters Of The Air was better, more dynamic, focused and actually felt for a few of the characters. Battle scenes were really outstanding to be fair.

In other fruit based streaming service news, we started Black Bird, that is shaping up to be 'kin top end, really enjoyed the first two episodes.

And we finished Monarch - great fun. Follows the proven formula that the 2014 film stuck to for stuff that is inherently a bit silly (see also Event Horizon, some of the earlier Marvels and all the way back to Star Wars) - get a good writing team, keep it simple, cast it well with people who'll take it seriously but still have some fun with it and the rest will likely fall into place.

Might have a crack at Silo tonight.

Love Silo. Some great characters and casting.
