May I try and square the circle here with the Mlyons contributions v the Rest and suggest that Mlyons is referring to the role Browning played rather than his overall performance ie he was cautious going forward and this was because he'd have been told to play it that way given his inexperience. Compare this with the increasingly experienced Galloway who was on several occasions during the game the most advanced Everton player.

Thought he was a bit hesitant and nervy in the first half on Sunday. Deulofeu offered him no cover and when Moreno got forward he looked like he would get exposed as he was tucking in to support the CBs. Not really all his own fault to be fair, Martinez was obviously playing to get at the space in behind the wingback and Deulofeu hadn't a clue where to be positionaly when he did trot back.

Otherwise I thought he did OK but offers little going forward

I dont think he's anything right now other than a pure defender. Didnt see any real glimpses of what he could do going forward, which is ok because he is slated to be a CB. Its not like when Coleman came on against Spurs and just tore them apart.

I know I'll probably get a slating but does anyone else feel more secure in the game with Galloway and Browning defending than Coleman and Baines?

On an attacking, or even footballing level there's no comparison, but having two 6 foot plus fast physical lads just concentrating almost solely on defending means that in my opinion we are feeling more solid. We're seeing less crosses coming in and I don't think it's a coincidence that Jags Stones and even Mori are looking imperious when they're not getting dragged out to the flanks to cover flying full backs?

Just a thought but last season Chelsea won the league with two very similar style full backs playing this way (although they're looking very poor now).

Loved that game, a young Coleman just ran all over Bale and changed the game from right back. He doesn't back himself as much now as he used to back then.
