Defensively it's been reasonably solid, Holgate has impressed but looked like he was losing concentration towards the end of the half making a few little errors.

On the ball though its been absolutely shocking, the midfield 2 don't look like they want the ball and keep doing their best "invisible man" impressions anytime we get the ball, it's not sticking the few times it has gone directly to a player from a long ball and just looks like a massive lack of sharpness.

Going to be a very different era to that of Martinez and will take some getting used to this way of football again.

How can McCarthy get slated left and right and Barry get nothing? He didn't touch the ball the last 30 minutes of that half. Thought McCarthy has grown into the game some, everyone is tripping, Stones is giving United layups. Stekie, Holgate and Seamus look good though.

Neither have played too much and have both had injuries, but at least Barry's passes are connecting. They are both ruining the shape of the team by sitting back so deep and there is no need since there is 5 behind them.

Koemann has certainly shored up the defence (which is both necessary and a relief after last season).

If he can only get the players linking up better going forward things will bode well for the season.

Would like to see Davies and Mirallis get a go second half

Yes, thats why I initially made the point I thought it was telling that there was no Besic, when in truth if Koeman fancied him, this would be a gret opportunity to start him over Maccarthy, who many feel is the weak link, yet Koeman purchased Gueye. We shall see.

Ok Ian, but Besic has already played more games than McCarthy and Barry this preseason.

Stay classy Ian.

It's a friendly and we're parking the bus. Wtf! May as well go for it and try to put on a bit of a show for the fans.

And £100m+ for Stones and Lukaku lol daylight robbery. Take the money and run. We could strengthen the team so much more with that kind of money.

Looking solid defensively at last.
Moyes like performance at OT.
Stek is the new No. 1
RK rates Holgate above Galloway.
Stones still making mistakes.
Del giving the ball away a lot.
Overall very encouraging.

I know it's hard to believe mate, but he was actually playing that half.
