to be honest tonights performance was a complete contrast to friday and saturday.

i think RK learned alot from our frailties over the weekend.

Central midfield really is weak despite how many senior players we have there. Astounding how we didn't really notice it was the problem before Koeman arrived and we started being linked with players.

Barry, McCarthy, Cleverley, Gibson... Absolutely no creativity or pace. All of them just get the ball from the centre backs, slow the game down and roll a 10 yard pass to one of the full backs.

We may be short on numbers in areas such as right back and left wing but we badly lack quality in the middle.

Like Besic but he's always injured and Davies looks a player but is only a kid we should remember.

Busy few weeks ahead for Walsh and Koeman.

Holgate fitted in well with a back 3 tonight. He looked so much better on the right than as on out and out CB. Think we still only have Mori as our only capable header of the ball

To be honest i really think we've been playing very negative and Moyes-like football for these last three games

Would say we have been playing like the results don't really matter, kind of like friendly games....

Holgate looked comfortable and quick. Not sure if he could play as a CB in a flat back 4 because of his height.
Anyway overall we did ok against one of the title favourites, better orginisation was evident. Who knows if we manage a couple of quality signings ......

I agree but I think we did notice it was the problem before Koeman arrived. Our creativity from midfield has been poor

and how little our fans knew after the penalty incident as well

I agree that it was a bad thing to do, but I am sure he understood that and a stern talking to would have been enough and maybe one match not played. He is still an influential player for us and always has been. No offense to Cleverley, but Mirallas is more useful on the wing than him.

actually we looked a lot more stable defensively however creativity is non-existent at the minute.

We really need to invest in the midfield and creative options so if the rumours about Mata are true then he would be a signing we are desperate for.

BTW I have said it before Tom Cleverley is a crime against football we need to get rid

Thought Davies & Holgate looked good tonight. Hope Koeman gives youth a chance as we have some major talent coming through.

Thought tonight was a good squad fitness exercise but it did show the need for a playmaker to get Rom, Geri & Mirallas involved quicker, as well as a midfield enforcer (maybe Gueye will do this?). Also would still like an upgrade in goal, to me Steckles & Robles are quality reserves rather than first choice. More importantly we need a leader, hopefully Williams comes & provides this.

Hargreaves (Owen) was saying during the game, it takes time to adapt to a new managers methods. However I get the impression watching koeman, he seriously doubts whether some players have the ability to fulfil what he is asking. Although we defended well, the amount of times we gave cheap balls away in midfield was terrible.

Can see why Ron is trying to overhaul the midfield, the link between defence and attack is non existent, defenders constantly looking for a midfielder to play it too and they hide out the way or when they do receive it they give it straight back. About as useful as a chocolate teapot aswell defensively, opposition just waltz straight through them
