Unsworth.

Big Duncs role was described as "like an assistant in the technical staff" ?

David Unsworth "is the man between the first team and the under 21s ".

I don't know exactly what Dunc is in plain language and last season I don't think Unsworth held any brief with the first team.

They don't sound like legit job descriptions them. Did the person telling you this have a tube of glue and dilated pupils??

Has someone told you these @blueblue as they don't seem to be written anywhere?

Unsworth is a very difficult one. I would love him to be involved in the first team but I do think he has done a fantastic job with our under 21's. The way he carries himself is very positive. Even in the video's you can see Koeman is a little nervous and Unsworth is very confident, in a pleasant way. Lightens the mood etc. I can see him managing us one day I really can.

Long story short though a go between role would be perfect for him. I am sure over time he will have to move up to the First Team coaching staff. It would be a shame to waste him, and along with Duncan who has worked with the young players it will be very good for them to have familiar faces.

What we do with the 21's is up for debate. My idea would be to look to get a lad like Hibbert involved and possibly having big Joe Royle or John Ebbrell pick up a lot of the slack. Joe can do more.

Hubert may not be a great coach (he may go onto be). However just being a local lad who played 300 games for Everton adds an enormous value, as does being someone who recently retired from the game.

Getting Unsworth and Ferguson on the first team staff would be a really positive thing for us. Both of them are talented coaches. Unsworth has put his stamp on the 21's and Ferguson did some fantastic work with the under 18's.

As for Duncan I can make no sense of that role. I hope it is a trendy way for saying First Team Coach. Most people say he was on a leash under Martinez and wasn't best utilised. Every club I think needs a Ronnie Moran figure. We didn't have one last season. Common is no shrinking violet but I do think Ferguson could perform that role for us admirably alongside some good coaching.

Long story short, would be made up to see these two be part of the first team coaching set up.

Unsworth as head of developing the under 18's onward's to become first team players and helping out with the first team role is pretty much fine.

His role this season has changed in the sense he has been allowed more control with the youth set up, and is the one who controls the under 21's signings.

He is rated extremely highly at everton for the development of youth players to potential first teamers.

Catcher. It's on the official site , the piece about the appointments of Erwin Koeman and Kluitenberg. At the very end of the piece.

I do think we will see Unsworth in a far more prominent role this coming season.
The clip showing Koeman arriving at Finch Farm and being greeted and shown around by Unsworth is significant. I expect this was carefully choreographed rather than the new manager being greeted by anybody who happened to be around at the time of his arrival.

Unsworth will remain U21 Coach IMO, cant see him being near the First Team personally, not for any bad reasons, just that hes doing such a good job with the young uns. We will get in a GK coach and then focus on the DoF, then its up to him to sort it all out.

Hopefully Ryno / howe /arteta can get real run in at clubs apparently Arteta is smashing his coaching qualifications and pep wants to take him at city.. would be interesting to see them 3 develop into big managers
