Unsworth.

Got a lot of time for Unsy, when my lad was in hospital I went to Bellfield to get a card signed for him, abssolutely lashing down and freezing,he stopped and I explained why I was there,he brought me into the canteen got me a cuppa and got the card signed by everyone cracking fella

Has someone told you these @blueblue as they don't seem to be written anywhere?

Unsworth is a very difficult one. I would love him to be involved in the first team but I do think he has done a fantastic job with our under 21's. The way he carries himself is very positive. Even in the video's you can see Koeman is a little nervous and Unsworth is very confident, in a pleasant way. Lightens the mood etc. I can see him managing us one day I really can.

Long story short though a go between role would be perfect for him. I am sure over time he will have to move up to the First Team coaching staff. It would be a shame to waste him, and along with Duncan who has worked with the young players it will be very good for them to have familiar faces.

What we do with the 21's is up for debate. My idea would be to look to get a lad like Hibbert involved and possibly having big Joe Royle or John Ebbrell pick up a lot of the slack. Joe can do more.

Hubert may not be a great coach (he may go onto be). However just being a local lad who played 300 games for Everton adds an enormous value, as does being someone who recently retired from the game.

Getting Unsworth and Ferguson on the first team staff would be a really positive thing for us. Both of them are talented coaches. Unsworth has put his stamp on the 21's and Ferguson did some fantastic work with the under 18's.

As for Duncan I can make no sense of that role. I hope it is a trendy way for saying First Team Coach. Most people say he was on a leash under Martinez and wasn't best utilised. Every club I think needs a Ronnie Moran figure. We didn't have one last season. Common is no shrinking violet but I do think Ferguson could perform that role for us admirably alongside some good coaching.

Long story short, would be made up to see these two be part of the first team coaching set up.
Don't see any point in having ex players on the staff unless they are good. Unsworth appears to be, no idea about Ferguson. Hibbert...why? and Joe Royle has got to be past his best days. We all get a bit 'boys pen' about this stuff and the big old family club mentality has to an extent got to be forgotten. The only criteria is to win stuff. If ex players fit the bill then great but we just need the best we can find. After Roberto I just want some ruthless, win at all cost types. Sick of us being a nice club, always ends in tears.

Fair points lid but I disagree on offering opportunities to ex players who identified with the club. It gives us a talent pool to develop (in turn developing our youngest players) and if it doesn't work out then we can move them into a different position or move them on.

If they do succeed, like Sheedy, Unsworth, Ferguson, Stubbs and much latterly Colin Harvey before them then it makes sure that we protect our culture at the club. These ex players get Everton and the fans our identity which is important to us, that rubs on on the young players and the first team.

As you said we shouldn't let sentimentality get in the way of performance but I think we are getting the best of both worlds at the moment.

What he said.

Continuity is what makes us Everton.

Be it Brian Labone reading out the raffle winners on the pitch at half time or Tom Davies following in the footsteps of his Uncle Alan Whittle.

One Love, One Passion.

Agree.

Why are people actually arsed about his weight?

it's not like he's about to put on a kit and be playing for us is it, little bit weird people are banging on about it.

I suppose as long as it doesn't stop him doing his job it doesn't matter but if he really got too big it might - I would love to have Neville Southall involved at the club but with his size it looks like he wouldn't be able ...

Usworth is a truly likable fellow, met him a few times over the years and he is a humorous easy-going bloke. Great work with the youth players as well, smart to see his career progression going so well. His professionalism and straight up manner after Martinez got chased was very impressive as well. We need fellows like that at EFC.
Yeah there is a few of them like that Sheedy, Stuart and unsworth - if you ever wondered why people ask " they get it", if you are fortunate enough to spend some time in the lounges after a game they are ( unsy) not so much often there and are genuine boss fellas. Unsy is the size of a house.

Nev has been on a 25 year bulk. He's on the a cutting cycle now and is going to come back as a ripped beast.

To compliment what we are building Id get Tim Cahill in....for passion and energy and 'getting us' there is nobody and that includes Duncan more qualified in the last 20-30 years. Him in and around the first team, the U21's and the Academy would be great.

Would love Tim but he always pined for aussie sun & financially I don't think he'd want to. Think he also wants to establish his Oz academy
