You appear to have a bee in your bonnet over this. Your oblate spheroid reference leads me to assume that you know the peak of Mt Everest is not the furthest point on terrestrial Earth from Earth's centre...but on the basis that you consider facts are a bit 'naff', I won't.Having given more thought to your post ,it seems that you wanted to show your knowledge of sailing and plotting but I felt it was a bit out of place as no one can easily navigate at a given latitude no matter whether he knows( or in fact his captain ) so I felt it was a bit let's say naff to try to baffle someone with science when we all know it works better on RS supporters (unless you talk about aurora borealis ,when they will wrap you up with their sightings ) and even the dumbest football supporter must realise that the distance in each degree of logitude is different from the next when the earth is an oblate spheroid .
On subjects less contentious to you; what do you think the atmosphere at Goodison will be like when Usmanov reveals his Everton intentions? Do you think Big Dunc might be manager for long?
