Do we yet know what their plans are for GP? The images shown are a little abstract at this point. From a commercial angle, all due respect, the area is not doing very well (particularly on non match days) so not clear what type business might thrive there? And if it were a residential development, would it command much value?
Heard a rumour last week that the RS are preparing an offer to buy Goodison park. They were made up when we left anfield and want a repeat. They hate it around anfield and want to move to the posh suburb of Walton. If there is any truth in it we need to fleece then

I dont think they did get lucky, they made good decisions with their investment. They entered Europe in their first season, won a trophy and invested in players like Aguero, Toure, Silva, etc quite early. Hughes was the manager when they arrived they made one change bringing Mancini in before hitting the stratosphere. They made good decisions in investing and managers. Every manager they have appointed since Hughes has won the league and qualified for the CL. We are on our being kind 4th reboot, with not one player the ilk of Aguero or a Silva.

We may have struck gold with Carlo based on his pedigree, but he hasnt been here a wet week yet so lets not take anything for granted. Even if he is good, are we likely to smile at our losses and see the same investment again in the playing squad to improve, i dont think we can personally.

City made good decisions, we have made massively poor decisions and arent in arses roar of threatening Wolves or Leicester never mind challenging for Europe.

I just dont see what we have done as necessary to improve or comparible to what Chelsea or City did, not only that we have consistently said that wont be our model - the watch word has always been buy potential, develop and progress, its been an incompetent takeover and poor management from the owner and board even if the intentions were good in my opinion.

The Thais took over in 2007 and then the Abu Dhabi's took over in September 2008, appointing Mancini in 2009. They won the league in 2011-12 season, 3 years after the Abu Dhabi's took control. City got lucky that the Abu Dhabi's wanted to buy their club. Their investment in players, some paid off others didn't. Didn't we get in Europe in Moshiri's first season?
I am amazed that lads on here are trying to second guess the past present and future actions of 2 or 3 multi billionaires.
These lads didn’t find the money in the back garden
They earned with the brains their foresight and I’d say a fair bit of creative accounting.
Usmanov gives 15% of Arsenal to Moshiri for nothing yes nothing
2 yanks come sniffing around Goodson
Usmanov BUYS Moshiri shares in Arsenal for cold hard cash
Moshiri invests in Everton.
These lads had / have a plan and I’d be amazed if any of us 39hr a week PAYE earners know any more than what’s obvious.
These lads don’t say hello unless there is a motive behind it.
Usmanov did not give the interview to the FT for a Caesar salad and a cheap bottle of whiskey.
There was a reason and a plan behind the interview as there is with everything they do
A few bumps and a couple of hundred million here or there won’t upset these lads.
Moshiri wanted Brands from day 1 and eventually got him
Moshiri wanted Ancelotti after Koeman and eventually got him.
These lads have plans A, B and C and it’s pointless trying to second guess them.
One thing I’m sure of is they will eventually make money of this deal one way or the other plus boost their egos and probably shove 2 fingers up to Kroenke

And we'll reap the benefits along the way.

Interesting point is there is this statement from Usmano and the club are about to reveal record losses. Is this a coincidence?

On the subject of sponsorship could Usmanov put a pile of money into the club to cover losses and stadium build now in advance and call it naming rights?

But didnt they win the cup and crack Europe shortly after their take over, that provided the platform and shows good decision making and holistic management. Abu Dabhi took over in 2008 but as i remember they did it on deadline day so not a lot of time to invest until the next widows in 2009, as you say at the time they made a good strategic decision on the management of the club and brought in Manccini who brought the title, its investment and good decision making working hand in hand, we haven't done this. They went from window to window with tangible progress in the real world on the pitch, cracking Europe and winning trophies, ultimately winning titles within a four year period, we haven't, we have regressed.

You are quite right, Koeman qualified for Europe.

Spot on. Football at any level is a hobby/ego trip.

The only two ways to make money are 1) Potentially if you had another business that could benefit through the exposure or 2) if somehow in the future the premier league evolves to the american system of greater wage control and removing relegation threat. But even 1) at some point has to be paid for at a commercial rate and 2) seems impossible to predict

Same for the bew stadium. its a great ego trip and important and great to the club but it's hard to see it paying off for us in anything like the short to medium term. Do we have 50k+ regular match going fans? Is there the corporate demand for all the lounges and boxes? The RS plus the mancs have the region cornered.

Likewise I know a trend is to have more intermediate level hospitality - so more peoples club than the Dixie lounge - but we have one of the poorest supporter bases in the country. Unlike the London clubs we cant bank on walk-up tourists.

There's no wider cash to be made at Bramley from non-stadium stuff. We've leased a bit of land for a stadium and its bits and pieces. Any wider ideas for flats or whatever have to be done on land that would need to be paid for separately with Peel. And even then there's no pot of gold.
Your first paragraph is mistaken
The ego trip is wrong
The rest is pretty near spot on

About that ego thing...the whole point of BMD is to sell it on to the next 'other fool'
This is the premier league in a nut shell

In finance and economics, the greater fool theory states that the price of an object is determined not by its intrinsic value, but rather by irrational beliefs and expectations of market participants.[1] A price can be justified by a rational buyer under the belief that another party is willing to pay an even higher price.[2][3][4] In other words, one may pay a price that seems "foolishly" high because one may rationally have the expectation that the item can be resold to a "greater fool" later

They won the cup 2010-11 and the league the following season. They've now created a sporting complex around the Etihad that is fantastic and has given City supporters and the City of Manchester things to be proud of.

Moshiri/Usmanov moving North was/is a no brainer. Moshiri has bought the Liver Buildings with some Investment company, idealy placed to have as a base for future investments in the North West/the North. There's the 'Northern Powerhouse' potential money grab for businesses. Chinese investment in and around Manchester airport - I think £ 1 billion. There's the new Liverpool Film studio housed in the Littlewoods complex. New build apartments or conversions are needed to satisfy the weekend tourist trade - football and social. Investing in us gives them the ideal place to stamp their footprint in the area. The need for steel/metals will be immense. It's a win/win for us to be hanging on the coattails of Moshiri/Usmanov.

Wait until that lot have been presented with the league and then they'll turn their attention to us and as night follows day cry about 'who's financing us' as much as they did with City's owners and 'their human rights abuses'.

We'll be in for the same sort of treatment because of our Iranian owner and his mate - the Uzbek born Russian businessman.

Exactly they won trophies, two years into a cycle and gone from stregth to strength dominating the domestic game, i just dont agree there are comparisons to be made on any score, where are we now and where were we two years into our cycle.

That is all hypothetical mate and i dont see how it benefits us directly as a football club, its fine if Moshiri and Usminov hoover up the North docks - not that we know that this is the case. Im not sure how them selling steel or turning over property benefits us as a club directly. The same obstacles still apply.

happen nothing to do with steel but an investment giving a good return plus a substantial capital asset.

I know we are speaking hypothetically because their a billions of people in the world who also might do that, but say they do how does that ebnifit Everton, how are they putting all the profits into the club.

Sorry it all sounds very far fetched and not feasible, if that is their strategy its likely to benefit themselves rather then for the welfare of Everton football club.

I would imagine everything would be above board once planning permission is granted, but who knows....
