Usmanov

It's been quite an amusing 24 hours really. RAWK is in typical meltdown. I'd made the cardinal sin and overestimated their intelligence to the level of an able minded adolescent when the collective wisdom seems to fall some way short of that. I genuinely think that they felt yesterday was going to be the day we failed FFP and went out of business.

I spoke to one quite reasonable red after the derby defeat. We spoke about the match and he threw in the usual massive losses due to be announced, I said they would be worse than he was forecasting, but I wasn't too bothered as Usmanov would likely put an injection into the club and sort it. He went quite and didn't say anything on that. Looking back he clearly felt what I was saying was completely ridiculous. They've kind of fed themselves the idea that Usmanov is a fantasy. I can see why, USM combined official wealth is over 25 bn (officially) and unofficially higher than that by any amount of degrees. Essentially we can spend and waste any degree of money and it will still be alright.

It's just kind of funny, that they just get really irritated. Like the nerdy little kid at school who snitches on everyone and gets his head shoved down the loos at school, they are left getting angry as the cool kid basically gets away with messing it up time and again.

Fantastic post. My only concern is that Usmanov will be 70 by the time BMD is hopefully built. He looks like he’s one Russian vodka away from popping his clogs.

If we are pinning our immediate & longer term future to involve significant investment either directly or indirectly from USM/ Megafon etc, what happens if/when Usmanov vacates this world?!

Could they enter into say for example 5 or 10 year sponsorships which keep us going?

I think there are two issues here. Firstly he will have the best healthcare available. It makes a difference. He looks unhealthy, but look at Murdoch, who looks like a ghost and probably lives for another 10 years.

By all accounts his son is involved too. I imagine a lot will pass to him. I wouldn't rule out him coming on board with EFC. I'd imagine he will have property interests in Liverpool.

As for the businesses, you imagine Moshiri/Skotch would step up and Usmanov stepson (who he regards as a son) tae over, with Moshiri /Skotch taking a lead. Moshiri looks very healthy so I don't think we have a lot to worry about.

In all honesty, I'd say Usmanov with the medical support he will have will have 10 years in him, potentially 20.

Even if he went though, while perhaps the ability to make substantial additional money (in murky ways) may go, his stepson and Moshiri can very easily live on the acquires assets.

Again Dave Walsh had a good record of finding gems at Leicester, that's why we hired and Moshiri trusted him. Koeman whether you want to admit it or not, was a big name manager, who managed quite a few of the players that Liverpool have now, Mane, Van Dyke, Lovren. What's he supposed to do hire them and say your getting no money ?
The jury is still out on Brands signings, let's see what they do with good manager.
Walsh was head coach at Leicester, not DoF. Moshiri complicated his job unnecessarily.

Les Reed scouted those players at Southampton; he signed good players before and after Koeman was there for his 2 years.

Abramovic 4bn Skotch worth 7-8 from figures I've seen. As indicated above though, the real wealth of USM are likely to be substantially higher than the figure put for public consumption.

Ok not less than a third, but still:

76669

76670

and while, yes I agree that the figures for USM may be larger than the publicly available ones, there’s no reason to think the same isn’t true for Abramovich
