I'll regret this, but I'm starting it nevertheless.

Looks like the nucleus of a good team on the rise here
It really is. And the timing aligns perfectly with hosting the tournament in 2026 for these guys to be in their primes. We're short a goal scorer which could be an issue if someone doesn't come through.

2022 should be easy qualification and draw permitting a knockout appearance with this squad, but Berhalter is a mess and could take it all sideways.

Is it mostly the same age generation as England's "Foden/Sancho" group? I remember the US did well in the same U17 WC that England won that year.

Honestly no. The only one who really looks good from that group is Dest. Weah and Sargent have caps but I'm far from convinced either will make it. It's mostly players either a bit older or younger like Reyna.

If we're going there, I miss Boca

With you there, I miss Carlos more. Really liked DaMarcus, but would really like steadier hands (feet?) in the back four right now.

The current side has a lot of young talent, but no identity. There's a lot of time to figure that out, but that doesn't always go well.

IMO, one of our historical problems is that almost none of our players play together throughout the year. That worked OK for France in the last cycle, but often times sides have trouble with that. See: trying to shoehorn Lampard and Gerrard into the same midfield when they both instinctively wanted to occupy the same real estate.
