USMNT

I was at the game, a few thoughts:

1) Columbus' new stadium is absolutely perfect. Keeps sound in. Not sure what it sounded like on TV but there was a buzz inside the ground, and chants seemed to echo around it.
2) We utterly dominated the game - McKennie in particular seemed to win a ton of balls and made a lot of great quick passes, not just down the flanks but a number of slight feints and then passing forwards. It seemed all of our guys were on the front foot - although we had no end product it was clear our guys were playing football - this wasn't our usual "try hard" type of team with no quality.
3) From about the 10 minute mark it was clear it was only a matter of time before we equalised. Dest's blast, my god.
4) We still desparately need a striker.
5) I thought our dear Antonee Robinson had a good game.
6) This side could do some real damage with a healthy Reyna and Pulisic
7) There was absolutely no response from Costa Rica after we equalised. You could tell they were done.
Disagree on #5. I thought Pepi was excellent again and until he has a bad game he should be starting. He's got 3 in 3 starts while also being a very adept player in the areas that aren't in front of goal. I hope he gets to Europe and January and keeps moving upward.

I’m actually very curious to see what pulisics return does with this team. Before his injury there was almost an over reliance on him and he was also trying to do too much. Since then the team has looked more balanced. I’m not saying he shouldn’t play. He’s still one of our best. Gregg just needs to be careful in how he’s used so we don’t get back to just trying to find Christian always.

Re: Costa Rica it’s strange. They’ve always produced some really good players but they haven’t been able to transition from their old generation to a new one at all. Relying on subs like a 40 year old Saborio is kind of sad if that’s all they have at this point. What happened to them?

Without really knowing much about them my guess would be that it is just a small country that isn't always going to have a lot of talent.

Well today’s the big one. Not quite full strength and Gregg already making some curious decisions public knowledge. I still don’t understand what Turner did to not be #1 nor what Steffen did to displace him…Pulisic not starting makes sense but why even say it? Ah well. Win and we’re in great shape. Lose and it’s worry time going to Jamaica. Lineup prediction time. With Gregg already confirming who’s in net and Pulisic on the bench, for me the rest almost almost picks itself, with the exception of right back (Yedlin). Wouldn’t give Scally a go quite yet.

That said, there is also a world where Gregg starts both Lleget and Arriola because he does stupid things.

Hope to see:

—————————Steffen—————————
Cannon——Robinson—Richards——Robinson
—————————Adams—————————
————McKennie————Musah—————-
Weah——————————————Aaronson
—————————Pepi——————————

That side wins.

Looking forward to tonight’s match, after a disappointing result by Colombia, I have been impressed with the atmosphere at some recent home games and this one in Cincinnati should be very vibrant one.
