Heard an interview once where this higher up in football said if it comes down to an American prospect or an African prospect, the African prospect will be preferred just about every time.

That's just the way it is.

I think Lalas says the same. No manager ever gets fired for a Brazilian transfer flop, but sign the American...

It may be a bit overstated.

Just home from the match.

I have not seen a total eclipse of the moon in person, but I have now seen a Jozy Altidore goal. Swear - right in front of me.

He needs me, lads. Sign him Bobby, get me a flat in L4 and some season tickets, and he will slot like Cantona. I'm the missing element.

Match was terrific, great weather (hot, humid - just what both sides needed) I haven't heard the number, but many more there than the Scotland friendly two years ago - 50,000+. Lower bowl full, with spillage into the East side upper deck. T-How got recognized for his 100th cap before the match.

Still, the squad is really Bradley and the other 10 guys. He's running the show, and he's the guy who makes it work. He's really good, you know. Tidy squad today, only a couple of howlers on defense, and Howard was solid.

After being able to boo Clattenburg in person (we got a short "Clattenburg sucks" chant going in my corner - I'm so proud) I feel much better for some strange reason.

Overall, a good day. USA! USA! USA!

Very solid win, Nigeria really only threatened when the US went to 3 at the back and looked fairly terrible in doing so.

Bradley does all the flashy stuff, but we already know that. I was pleased to see Besler and Cameron doing the nitty gritty. They're at their best when you don't really notice them.

Unfortunately I only got to see the first 20 odd minutes. Good goals? Was it a pen?
Good team goal for the first with a nice cross from Fabian to find Jozy, strong individual effort from Jozy on the second, rightful PK call for a foul against Nigeria. I blame Gonzo, though Besler committed the foul.

Cheers for the recap. I can't navigate the new ESPNFC at all.

Good to see Jozy get back on the score sheet...hopefully it'll get his head straight. His scoring drought is completely a between the ears problem in my opinion. During the first 20 minutes Bradley was head an shoulders the best player on the pitch for us...not that it's a shock...but he is REALLY good. He's just so positive with the ball in his feet...can see the pass. Tracks back brilliantly. Imagine him in Martinez's system...jizz

I thought that was exactly the game the US needed. Solid defensively, no injuries, and Jozy getting back on track with two goals. Has me optimistic going into the Ghana match.
