VAR

They should be able to get the correct frame where the player first touches the ball, but I was just saying that's what the law states. Agree with you about offside by the way, the law's old hat with VAR sniffing around.

It's actually from the point the ball leaves the foot/body, but anyway.....

Seems one or two are using this to justify why decisions like last night go agst us.

VAR and the people administering it is meant to rid football of subjectiveness , if it isn't it is not fit for purpose.

I understand it perfectly. Because there will still be a legitimate disagreement over certain decisions because they are subjective there's no point in having VAR. It just doesn't make any sense.
No that’s not it. I’m not saying there’s no point in having VAR because of that I’m saying that I don’t think VAR works in those situations because referees are overturning their own decisions because somebody else is disagreeing with them even though they saw the thing perfectly well in the first place. Pointing out a clear and obvious error is fine but that isn’t what is happening and that’s where the problems with VAR are coming in. It’s only my opinion I wouldn’t have given it if I’d know I was going to have to explain it 50 times.

Do you think I’m trying to justify why decisions go against us is that it? I don’t know how you’ve thought that but I’m definitely not doing that! I’m saying they should get rid of VAR in its current form because it doesn’t work and is ruining football not saying the decisions against us are right, it not being fit for purpose is what I’ve been trying to tell you!

Under the rules which is all we need to know , that is a stonewall penalty , anywhere else on the pitch a free kick is given.

It's not about wether it is objective or subjective.

Plain & simple ( remember when football used to be that ) that is a foul preventing a goalscoring opportunity.
In the area its a penalty.

The ONLY debate here is WE way more often that not don't get the right decisions , yet others do.
Both decisions can’t be right. Either we’re applying the rules without interpretation (DCL red, Beto pen) or there is inconsistency (Beto wouldn’t have got the ball anyway so it’s not a pen although he was clearly being fouled but also DCL wasn’t out of control and contact needed Hawkeye to confirm therefore it’s not reckless and therefore not a red). We seem to flip between which of these is the ruling precedent. And if refs started given pens for shirt pulling on corners, it would stop in 2 weeks).

The offside ones for me are just the worst of the worst. I wouldn't mind conceding a goal if the opposition striker is a few inches ahead of the line because there should be a bit of give and take. Measuring players from the arm, shoulder etc is pathetic.
The phrase 'giving someone the benefit of the doubt' is now obsolete in football.

It's starting to become a damn circus at the moment.

It will always be subjective, but it should only be getting used for genuine referee howlers. Not one that “could be a red on another day”

If the ref has seen it and hasn’t flagged it, play on. If he’s genuinely missed something that was bad/game altering, intervene.

It’s being used incorrectly in my very subjective opinion.

YES!

I'd happily see VAR go completely, its been a disaster for the game.

Pre-VAR if there was a howler, e.g. a "wrong" sending off then it would be spotted on MOTD and rescinded on the Monday. Ditto, a referee having a howler would be suspended.

VAR is ruining the flow of the game and supporters/players can't fully celebrate a goal (in case it gets pulled back).

The clear and obvious rule just gives officials carte blanche to be biased.

Three times in four games, the ref has been told to overrule his decision but not only that has actually continued the game!

City: gave a corner
Spurs: gave a goal
Palace: gave us a corner.

It’s beyond a joke and it winds me up the club are not more vocal about this.
