VAR

It's love hate for me, it's very clearly needed but it does suck the joy out of a goal like that.

Back in the old days Oliver could have just blown up for absolutely nothing and it wouldnt have stood. St least with VAR most oftentimes they let it play on to avoid making a controversial call. It’s still being used to rig games but it’s better than it used to be.

I agree that it is different but I don't reckon it is better. Now, you do not get the incensed teams and crowds reacting en masse to a clear injustice. It is all calmed down by a protracted period of deliberation by a third party. Far more genteel and media friendly. We are expected to sit there and politely clap the preferred winners because they generate more revenue for the authorities from media markets ...
